6. Comparison between Romantic age and Victorian Age
:-
1 ) Use of Language :-
× Romantic Literature is emotionally expressive. It
often uses phrases such as, “oh..!”, “Alas!” To give
the impression of sudden onrush of feelings.
× But the Victorian poets or writers are not using
such language because they want to show the
world as it really was. So they use modern
expressions and language. And make less use of
flowery metaphors and images.

Prachi kumari in her article mentioned that,
Romanticism is deep belief in the power of nature, the
writer like keats, Shelley, Wordsworth, Coleridge are
mostly write about the nature and imagination, instead
of looking About reality. They only try to describes good,
positive side of world and beauty of nature.
Victorian writer mostly write About the problems of

Dickens novel. Showed misery of the working poor.

Industrialism revolution. When urbanization and factory

Similarly, inequality in economic through 19th century led
Victorian writers to write for horror of poverty, and they started
portraying dark side of poverty and economic inequality.

Romantic poetry is majorly known for its sudden expressions of joy,
sadness, and excitement.
Victorian literature, take literature as deliberately craft and they used
carefull structure and language. It's we see in Browning's poem, ‘My last
Duchess’. The poem uses irony. So that, it will became hard to
understand for their long and complicated plot. Such like jude the
Obscure by Hardy. ‘An Apology for poetry’ by Sir Philip Sidney.
