Researching the subject area

What is the subject matter?
As stated in the brief, the subject matter I will focus on will be linked to Journeys. The word
‘journey’ means to travel from one place to another however this does not have to
always be referring to travelling as it can also be represented through a mental health
journey or a healing journey which both can revolve around someone trying to better their
mental psyche or to look at how they were before and see how far they have come. A lot
of people can go on various types of journeys throughout there lives however over the last
few years many people have mostly went through psychological journeys due to COVID
which made it unable for people to go anywhere and thus they had to stay indoors which
was mentally challenging for a lot of people as they were unable to do most day-to-day
activities. Due to the fact people were not permitted to go to places or could not go
outside for there own physical well-being, many people did not want to go travelling even
when the restrictions were lifted permitting people to travel. Instead, people stayed
indoors and were unable to do cheerful things such as hanging out with friends or visiting
other family members. My target audience were more likely to experience some form of
depression, with over 43% of women and 26% of men aged 16 to 29 years experiencing
depressive symptoms therefore there are more than likely more people to experience a
mental health journey over these last few years. Along with using my knowledge I had
linking to journeys, I decided to do further research to get a better understanding of the
implications of journeys. The main thing I learnt through my research is that my target
audience tend to have the highest rate of depressive symptoms.
