Computerization has changed the working environment dramatically and has a significant impact on jobs. In this presentation, the influence of technological progress is shown on the work of the searcher and knowledge manager in the industry over the last 20 years. Changes in customer needs, new products and technical progress are contrasted and compared. Mutual interactions of these 3 criteria will be listed together with their impact on the requirements for an industrial knowledge center. Knowledge Managers must develop their job profile accordingly to keep up with these changes.

The Future of Employment
"The Future of Employment: How susceptible are jobs to
computerisation?" by Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael Osborne
(Academic Publication, Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford)
http://www.oxfordmartin.ox.ac.uk/publications/view/1314
‘The authors examine how susceptible jobs are to computerisation, by
implementing a novel methodology to estimate the probability of
computerisation for 702 detailed occupations’
Authors ‘examine expected impacts of future computerisation on US
labour market outcomes, with the primary objective of analysing the
number of jobs at risk and the relationship between an occupation’s
probability of computerisation, wages and educational attainment’.

High impact vs low impact
face up to technical progress and computerization
adopt new technologies and leverage them in your
company
don’t hesitate to hand-over routine tasks to computers or
let them do by customers themselves
focus on customized activities with high impact and
person-to-person interaction
