2. Objective of Project
• The Objective of this project is to
use the Four bar mechanism for
some useful mechanical work.
3. Four Bar Mechanism
• A four-bar linkage, also called a four-bar, is
the simplest movable closed chain linkage.
• It consists of four bodies, called bars or links.
• These links are connected in a loop by four
joints.
5. Explanation of four bar mechanism
• There are four links in this linkage.
• The grounded link is known as frame
• Other one is crank shaft
• Crank shaft is connected to coupler which is
then connected to follower
• At follower, we obtain some mechanical work.
6. Design of Four Bar Mechanism
For designing the four bar mechanism,
• First link is grounded and other is crank shaft
which can be rotated manually.
• By rotating this crank shaft we have to gain
mechanical work at the follower by which is
linked to crank shaft by connecting rod.
8. Explanation
• We are to use this method to crush some
material which is to be used in granular form.
• We place the material in the cylinder shown in
figure and the heavy piston turns it to the
granular form.
9. Explanation
• We rotate the cranks shaft and convert this
motion to coupler.
• Coupler connects with follower.
• From follower we obtain reciprocating motion
and from this reciprocation, the heavy piston
crushes the material placed in the cylinder.
