This project examines the problems faced by disabled people in accessing buildings and public spaces. Through surveys of apartments and public buildings, the group found that most do not provide adequate facilities for disabled access. Their analysis showed that 61% of people said facilities were not available. To address this, the group proposes design standards for ramps, signage, and other accessibility features to integrate disabled people into society and allow them to live independently. They plan to raise awareness and potentially start an NGO to advocate for implementing accessibility requirements.
4. We need to work on this project because our society is
not aware and provide proper facility for special abled
people.
We studied in details about the problems faced by the
disabled .In our project we took survey by visiting
different apartments in different colonies , buildings ,
etc. and asked the folks that are there any facilities for
special abled people or not.
Through our survey and observations we concluded that
there are no facilities for the disabled and to solve the
problem our team reached on a common so that to make
people aware to build special code of conduct and make
builders be aware to built buildings taking care of
special abled people.

6. •This project is about the problems faced by the
special-abled people and solutions related to this.
•Several survey and observations have been taken in
this regard.
•We have taken this project because now a days people
are not aware towards the people with special ability.
•We aware people towards them and to behave them
properly or politely , instead of laugh on them , give
them precedence and provide them enough and
satisfactory facilities .
7. AIM :-
The social aim of the study is to integrate
special able people into society in order for them to
take an active part in society and lead a normal life.
OBJECTIVE :-
We have taken this project because now a
days people are not aware towards special abled
people.
8. It is regard to the society that people are not
aware towards special abled people.
Another thing is that apartments , government
buildings or some other places like educational
buildings ,offices etc. are not providing
sufficient facilities for them.
9. To aware our society towards special abled
people and to take intiative towards them.
10. The entire project is based on survey.
OBSERVATIONS
• In our survey we asked some questions related
to the facilities for special abled people.
• While taking the survey we observed that people
are not much concern about them.
• Maximum of the people denied on the facilities
for special abled.
• Some of them said that there are facilities for
disabled are present.
12. Q-1.Are curb ramps infrastructure available or not ?
Q-2Are barrier free path for physically disabled person present or
no?
Q-3.Are the obstructions in the path way are aligned in a single line
or not ?
Q-4.Are bollards painted in a contrasting colors or not ?
Q-5.A particular code of conduct for shapes of signboard followed
or not ?
Q-6.Are the telephones booths for peoples using wheelchairs present
or not ?
Q-7.Are the branches of trees with suitable height are maintained ?
Q-8.Are the control system of lift design in such a way that disabled
people can use it ?
Q-9.Are the subways are present in the railway stations or not ?
Q-10.Are the proper guide strips on roads are available or not ?
14. • After data analysis , we observed that
39% of people said that there are
facilities for special abled and 61%
people denied.
• From these percentages we concluded
that majority of the people disagreed that
there are facilities for special abled.
15. •People are not much aware and concerned
towards special abled people
•Lack of awareness even in the educated and
literate society.
•Even if people are concerned about them but
they didn’t take any initiative in favour of them.
•Not sufficient facilities are their for special abled
people.
•After observing the details of the survey we
observed that our hypothesis is correct.
16. Design consideration :-
•Obstruction include street furniture , traffic signs , direction
signs , street plants , bollards , are alligned in a straight line.
•Obstruction in the pathway should be easy to detect.
•Protruding elements should be avoided.
•Fixed poles should have contrasting durable colours marking
strips placed with the centre line at a height between 1.40m-
1.60m,to warn pedestrians with limited vision.
•Barriers should be identified by stripped colour marking and
should lit at night.
•The symbols is composed of a wheel chair figure with either a
square background or a square border.
•Info-rectangular , warning-Triangular , Interdictory-circular.
17. •At public telephone booths , one telephone should be accessible
to a wheelchair user and another to a person with a hearing
impairment.
•Telephones for the hearing impairment should be equipped
with hearing aid devices and amplifiers and the location of
telecommunication devices should be indicated by signs.
•Underground subways should be implement in the all railway
stations.
•The path of travel should be easy to detect for a sightless
person by implemt proper guide lines.
•Curbs should not be obstructed the free passage of physically
disabled people ,mainly the wheelchair users.
•Pedestrian crossings should be equipped with traffic control
signals.
•Low traffic crossings frequently used by special abled people
can be controlled by a pedestrian push-button system , the
push-buttons placed on the light poles.
18. g•Accessible parking provisions apply to both outdoor and
underground facilities.
•Accessible buildings , atleast one entrance per facility should be
accessible to a wheelchair user.
•For new buildings the accessible entrances should be the main
entrance intended use by general public.
•In accessible clothes shops , atleast one changing room should
allow for a 360 turn of a wheelchair.
•All teaching , administrative , library should be accessible to a
wheel chair user.
•A special room should be provided for sightless and hearing-
impaired people who need assistance while reading.
19. •We have planned that we will take some steps at
official level for the implementation of all the facilities
for special abled people.
•We will aware people time to time for this , and try to
open a NGO for them.
20. I would like to express my special thanks to my
teachers Mr. M M Yadav sir and other subject
teachers as well as our principal Mrs.Rachana Dev
Kendriya Vidyalaya ,Virbhadra Rishikesh who
gave the golden opportunity to do this wonderful
project on the topic Accessibility for persons with
disability ,which also helped us in doing a lot of
research and we came to know about so many
things.
Secondly , I would also like to thanks my Parents
And my Group Members who helped me a lot in
finalizing this project within the limited time
frame.
