1. Actuarial Life Principal
Location: Hartford, CT
Oliver Wyman is seeking top talent to join its growing US Actuarial Life consulting practice and is
opening a Principal position in its Hartford CT office. The new Principal will report to the office leader
and will be expected to assist in business development and to contribute to a broad range of client
projects. The Principal will play a key role in the sourcing and delivery of projects for Oliver Wyman’s
clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, law
firms, state regulators, and private equity firms.
Projects and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 Lead or participate in client sales meetings
 Proposal development
 Thought leadership, including oversight and/or creation of intellectual capital
 Creation and analysis of financial projections
 Insurance mergers & acquisitions
 Capital markets transactions including XXX and AXXX reserve financing
 Life and annuity product development and financial reporting
 Client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies
 Work in partnership with our management consulting and strategy practice
Requirements:
 FSA with 7+ years of professional experience
 Robust life insurance, annuity or long-term care knowledge and industry recognition in areas
such as product development, valuation, financial reporting and risk management
 Knowledge of financial modeling systems (GGY AXIS preferred)
 Strong project management and project team leadership skills
 Ability to manage staff
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 Strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite

consultant will achieve significant interaction and visibility with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include
top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, law firms, state regulators, and
private equity firms.
Projects include but are not limited to the following:
 Creation and analysis of financial projections
 Insurance mergers & acquisitions
 Capital markets transactions including XXX and AXXX reserve financing
 Life and annuity product development and financial reporting
 Work in support of our management consulting and strategy practice
 Client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies and marketing
 Development and maintenance of intellectual capital
Requirements:
 FSA with 4-8 years of professional experience
 Track record of rapid learning, high performance and professional growth
 Ability to work efficiently and effectively in team setting
 Deep experience with actuarial modeling (GGY AXIS preferred)
 Robust life insurance, annuity or long-term care knowledge
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 Strong project management and time management skills
 Ability to work independently and direct analysts and senior analysts
 Strong skills with MS Excel, MS Access or other database software, VBA or other programming
languages
