- Popularity of online shopping has led to more delivery trucks visiting residential areas, resulting in increased emissions, noise levels and traffic hazards. Smarter, integrated deliveries can cut overall traffic and provide better information on delivery times, while the use of cleaner vehicles will help to reduce local pollution levels.
- Last mile delivery of goods approach reduces congestion, lowers emissions and delivery times in dense urban areas. Urban consolidation centre (UCC): Reduces congestion in pedestrianized and/or highly populated areas Reduces emissions Lowers delivery times Lowers costs for conventional carriers. Additionally, the electric tricycles will be equipped with sensors providing environmental information such as co2 concentration, temperature, etc.
- 1 / define who generates the delivery demand in the city and measure the number of vehicles associated with it: offices (yellow), e-commerce (magenta), commerce (cyan). 2 / define how many packages are delivered in each street and how many deliveries failed (because the receiver was not at home, approx. 20% average) according to age and employment. 3 / define how to size a consolidation center for the distribution of goods and define its scope area. 4 / deploy throughout the city a network of consolidation centers that concentrate the deliveries from which bicycles or other 0 emissions vehicles will be sent to their final destination. 5 / quantify how many routes we have reduced with the implementation of this model. 6 / how it impacts on traffic intensity at city gates and on internal roads.
