 Contract worker in the City of London developing the Governance structure for a Security
Consultancy company.
BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Ltd. January 2013 – June 2016
Director, Global Head of Security and Regional (EMEA) Head of Corporate Re silience, Safety
and Security.
Promoted to Global Head of Security and, following the creation of the Corporate Resilience Safety
and Security team (CRSS), Regional Head of CRSS, reporting directly to the Global Head of CRSS.
 Developed Business Continuity Plans to cater for resilience in times of crisis.
 Set up a second Global Command centre in Wilmington, Delaware USA to run in parallel with
the centre in London, achieving resilience in preparation for any potential crisis that might
impact either site.
 Created the Physical Security standard to align with the CRSS Global Policy and created
guidelines and procedures to define how the standard would be carried out.
 Oversaw the regional health and safety program.
 Lead person for internal and external audits of the physical security program.
 Motivated and coached staff to increase skills and knowledge, and constantly monitored
team’s performance against both Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators taking
remedial action as necessary.
 Managed vendor performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
 Managed a budget in excess of $10m.
 Designed and oversaw the installation of security systems (access control, cctv and fire alarm
monitoring) for all our new sites globally and worked with project managers and external
vendors to ensure they were installed to our standards.

Director, Regional Head of Security for EMEA.
Recruited from the Metropolitan Police to head up Security for the EMEA region after the firm had
acquired Merrill Lynch Investment Management and became global in footprint. In 2010, the
acquisition of BGI not only doubled head count but we also took on a significant number of assets
globally.
 Held ultimate responsibility and acted as senior regional point of contact for key stakeholders
in the business in all matters relating to the physical security of assets.
 Set up the company’s first Global Command centre in London to monitor our assets globally
and to established a traveller tracking and monitoring system to help ensure the personal
safety of staff at their work location and when travelling on company business
 Monitored events globally and conduced real time dynamic risk assessments to determine
potential impact on our staff, assets or reputation.
 Worked with our Information Security Team to monitor and mitigate risks that could pose a
threat to the firm
 Worked with key stakeholders to design the security regime for all new build projects. Post
2010, managed the security fit-outs of newly acquired sites to bring them onto our global
enterprise access control system which was achieved within a 4-month time frame.
 Worked closely with our Global events team for the protection of our staff and VIP’s at
external events.
 In addition, covered the role of Head of Asia Pacific region for extended periods between
appointments.
Metropolitan Police London January 1976- April 2007
Retired at the rank of Chief Inspector
 Held managerial and leadership roles throughout my career from the rank of Sergeant where I
led a small team of Constables, to a Borough Chief Inspector in Islington where I was
responsible for Operational and Community Policing leading over 400 staff in both reactive
and proactive policing methods.
 Specialised for 5 years as a Personal Protection officer to members of the British Royal
Family.
 Specialised for 5 years as a Security Co-ordinator responsible for designing and
implementing security measures for ceremonial and high profile events such as Athens
Olympic Games 2004, G8 2005, G6 2006 and numerous State visits and other high profile
events attended by V.I. P’s and members of the Royal Family.
 Conducted security reviews of hotel security in Jordan following 3 suicide bomb attacks in
2006 and then a full review of the Jordanian International Police training centre in Jordan in
response to a specific threat against British and American trainers by AQ.
 Designed the island site hostile vehicle mitigation regime for the new Wembley Stadium in
partnership with key stakeholders including the Football Association and various Government
agencies in support of the UK Contest Strategy.
 Responsible for liaising with senior leaders in the Police Service and other external agencies
to determine the strategy for the security of an event or location and preparing and delivering
my security plans face to face with all the stakeholders.
