A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill
 Let the pupils rearrange the jumbled words to form 2 science
terms.
1. EPATMERETRU (Temperature)
2. RURMCYE (Mercury)
2. Motivation
 Mother wants to find out if her son has a fever.
What is the best thing mother can use to find the body
temperature of her sick son?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
 Present a lesson with a model thermometer.
glass tube – holds the glass bulb
glass bulb – contains the mercury
scale – tells how far the mercury rises and goes down.
mercury – liquid inside the bulb which rises when hot and goes
down when it is cool.
 Ask the pupils: Does each part of a thermometer have its own
use?
1. What are the parts of a thermometer?
2. What holds the glass bulb?
3. What holds the liquid?
4. What goes up and down when the temperature changes?
5. What tells how far the mercury goes up or down?
6. What instrument helps you to determine the body
temperature?
7. Why is it important to know the parts of a thermometer?
2. Fixing Skills
 Game: Group the pupils into 4. Have them select 1 representative
for each round. Let them identify the part of the thermometer as
the arrow points to it. The first who gives the correct answer earns
point.
3. Generalization
 What are the parts of a thermometer and their functions?
4. Application
 What do you think is the importance of a thermometer?

Learning Experiences A. Preparatory Activities 1. Drill  Let the pupils rearrange the jumbled words to form 2 science terms. 1. EPATMERETRU (Temperature) 2. RURMCYE (Mercury) 2. Motivation  Mother wants to find out if her son has a fever. What is the best thing mother can use to find the body temperature of her sick son? B. Developmental Activities 1. Presentation  Present a lesson with a model thermometer.
  • 2. glass tube – holds the glass bulb glass bulb – contains the mercury scale – tells how far the mercury rises and goes down. mercury – liquid inside the bulb which rises when hot and goes down when it is cool.  Ask the pupils: Does each part of a thermometer have its own use? 1. What are the parts of a thermometer? 2. What holds the glass bulb? 3. What holds the liquid? 4. What goes up and down when the temperature changes? 5. What tells how far the mercury goes up or down? 6. What instrument helps you to determine the body temperature? 7. Why is it important to know the parts of a thermometer? 2. Fixing Skills  Game: Group the pupils into 4. Have them select 1 representative for each round. Let them identify the part of the thermometer as the arrow points to it. The first who gives the correct answer earns point. 3. Generalization  What are the parts of a thermometer and their functions? 4.
