After a decade of community service work, I was awarded with lifetime membership in the JCI
International Senate as Senator # 44374. JCI is a worldwide business, community and individual
development organization active in 34 countries. I remain active in the support of JCI International’s
strategic initiatives on business, the environment and the United Nations.
Theatre Network (1975) Society, Live Theatre at the Roxy – Edmonton, Alberta
BOARD MEMBER
April 1989 to December 1991
Public relations and fund raising activities, organizing meetings with prospective donors and making
presentations to organizations, member of the board¹s building committee involved in the acquisition
of the Roxy Theatre building and the future renovation plans for the facility, developed strategies and
programs for the continued growth and development of Canadian theatrical productions.
Community Connections Society / The Edmonton Distress Line – Edmonton, Alberta
BOARD MEMBER
June 1985 to May 1989
As chairman of the board’s fund raising committee was involved in the development of a fundraising
strategy and marketing plan for the agency. The new approaches and methods implemented to
support the Distress Line, Health Line and Suicide Prevention programs of the agency resulted in a
record amount of donations towards the service. $125,000.00 above traditional sources of funding
was raised during my tenure on the board. A firm fundraising plan was established and successfully
implemented.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
June 1985 to June 1986
Chairmanship of board meetings, guidance and direction to the president and board of directors on
policies and procedures, protocol, planning activities, project management, fundraising and
organizational planning.
PRESIDENT - EDMONTON JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – JCI International
June1984 to June 1985
Elected to lead an organization of 90 members and over 3000 alumni members. Strong public
relations, fund raising, committee management and community/project development skills utilized in
the management of an eight member board of directors representing a diverse range of businesses.
Hosting dignitaries visiting Edmonton and organizing meetings and introductions. Liaison with the

2. Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. Nationally awarded the Hugh B. Holland Memorial Trophy for
Outstanding Contribution as President in Canada. Membership in the organization grew by over 30%
during my year of office ending the year at 123 members, World recognition for the unit was given
for the most outstanding fund raising project in over 80 countries, recipient of the Unit Award of
Excellence; attended the J.C.I. International World Congress in Montreal, Quebec, with over 5000
delegates from around the world.
Keynote community development projects during my year as President in Edmonton included:
Sponsorship of Edmonton’s Minor Hockey Week; The production and media sponsorship of “Night
Mother” at the Phoenix Theater; The ‘Death with Dignity’ fund raising campaign at the Edmonton
General Hospital which raised over $300,000 for Palliative Care; The support of the Citadel Theater’s
community campaign as a member of their fund raising committee. Sponsorship and lobbying for
GATT by bringing in senior leadership from Switzerland so that meetings and discussions on the
future of free trade could be held between senior Canadian business and government representatives.
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING
June1983 to June 1984
Responsible for the leadership of the organizations community development committee. Most notable
accomplishments included a public education program on poison prevention and awareness and the
annual children’s variety show, which grossed our organization over $350,000 in support from the
Edmonton community. Awarded Committee of the Year and Project of the Year for two of the major
projects undertaken during my tenure as director.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS
June 1982 to June 1983
Responsible for the marketing plan and sale of the organization to the public, and the business
community, monthly newsletter publication, press releases, organization of a speaker’s bureau,
Chamber of Commerce business mixers, ensured that the year’s programs and projects received the
attention of those it was targeted to.
DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP
June 1981 - June 1982
Responsible for the membership campaigns marketing and coordination, chairmanship of working
committees, conducted board and community group presentations. Initiation of an incentive program
that resulted in a strong team spirit and good membership retention and growth.
DIRECTOR OF INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT
June 1980 to June 1981
Presentation of educational seminars on such subjects as computer usage, planning and goal setting,
public speaking, committee management, and planning retreats focused towards growth and
development of the organization. Recognized as the Director of the Year for accomplishments.
