4. Belief in Afterlife
Test on ones soul in
order to win eternal life.
Mummification was a
way that the dead could
be preserved for the
afterlife and buried with
everything they would
need in the afterlife.
Later we would see
even ordinary people
afforded mummification

5. Farmer and Women of Egypt
Farming in Summer,
working for the Pharaoh
in the off-season
Trade would expand the
Merchant class.
“The foot of an Egyptian
women may walk where
it pleases and no one
may deny her.”
Women had many rights
including business
owning, property rights
and divorce
Many women worked
outside the home and
could even become a
priest.
6. Writing – Hieroglyphics
Hieroglyphics is a form
of picture writing.
Paper was made of a
plant near the Nile,
called papyrus
Rosetta Stone – Stone
with 3 forms of writing
on it which was
deciphered to under
stand Hieroglyphics.
7. Egyptian skillz that killz
Medicine – Egyptian
physicians believed in
magic, but also
studied symptoms,
diagnosing illness and
would find cures to
disease.
Did surgery, created
medical manuals on
papyrus, as well as
prescribed medicine
that is still used today.
8. More Skillz
Created 12 month
calendar with 30 days
each, which became
basis for modern
calendar.
Created practical
geometry to survey land
and create boundaries for
farms
Engineered pyramids
with Geometry to
calculate each size and
location of each stone.
9. Art and Literature
From tombs and wall
paintings we know
they Egyptians were
very talented artisans
Wrote many folk tale
stories of battle as
well as poems and
songs.
They would share
these with their
Sumerian neighbors.
