The Looking Glass- Leo Pearlman

  1. Networking Experience (complete and upload to your blog – label ‘Networking’) Include the Title of the event, the date, and the venue Talk with Leo Pearlman Friday 8th October The Looking Glass Leo Pearlman- Fulwel 73 Fulwell 73 is a film producing company founded in 2005 by Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, Ben Turner and Gabe Turner, the name is based off an area in Sunderland called Fulwell and the ’73’ comes from when Sunderland last won a major trophy in the FA cup final in 1973. The company first caught the publics attention in 2007 with its first debut feature ‘In the hands of the gods’ this opened on more screens in the UK than any other UK made documentary. They have also been involved in huge box office hits like This is Us: One Direction, I am Bolt and level up. Many of their films/ shows involve Justin Bieber, Robbie Williams, one direction, jack Whitehall and Michael Mcintyre. Fulwell 73 also co- produces The Late Late show with James Corden as well as Carpool Karaoke. What did you learn? I learned about different jobs within the industry and how Leo Pearlman got involved within the business. I also learned where Fulwell 73 have their offices which is Sunderland, London and LA. I also learned that he was looking for workers within their company and told us how to apply. This experience allowed me to think more about the industry and specifically jobs that are available at Fulwell 73, Leo explained how more jobs will become available to us within the Northeast as their company is making an office in Sunderland additional to their London and LA office. This allowed me to see more opportunities that are available to me within my area. From this experience I was able to meet industry professionals that have close contact with the city and the media industry that may be able to help me within the industry in the future as they have close ties with the University and have a office within the Media Hub at the university of Sunderland. Although this didn’t help me with any of my current projects or gain any skills I was able to meet industry professional and see how they built up their company to how big it is today.
