A CV is a curriculum vitae and is a short written summary of someone's career, education and
qualifications. CVs are most commonly used when applying foe jobs and in some cases used for
apprenticeships. This allows employers to see why you are the right person for the job and allows them to
gain a first impression on the candidate.
Your CV should include:
• Your name and contact details
• A small description of yourself, summarise your skills and your best qualities. If applying for a job
candidates may include career goals.
• Education- Include any recent qualifications that have been gained, past or current training that has
been completed
• Skills and interests- Include skills that would directly link to the specific job that you are applying for.
• Past employment/ experience- Mention your most recent or current job, explain what your current role in
your job is and what skills you have gained from your role, must include start and finishing date of each
job or work experience. When discussing your past employment it is important that highlights the key
skills throughout the job.
A CV should be no longer than two pages as employers will often get bored of any CV longer than two
pages.

First CV

• This is my first CV that I used to apply for my part time job.
• When writing this CV I had just left secondary school so had no
work experience.
• Since writing this CV I have had a work placement at Meash
Media which will be added to my CV.
• This CV also had no structure to it and was just wrote straight into
a word document
• My GCSE grades are within a structure
In my next CV I will add my college education to my CV and my work
experience and what skills I have gained into my CV.

Final CV

When updating my CV I decided to put it in a template to allow my
CV to have more structure. By adding a template to my CV this
allows it to look more professional rather than having it in a word
document. I was also able to add my work experience at ‘Meash
Media’ which then allowed me to add media related skills to my
CV. I was also able to add my college education to my updated
CV, however my GCSE grades are no longer in a table or
anywhere in
