Gary Rux has extensive experience in law enforcement and community outreach with the Middletown Borough Police Department. He coordinates several community programs including the DEA Drug Take Back event and National Night Out. Within the department, he serves as a criminal investigator, evidence technician, and systems administrator for programs like CAD, CLEAR, and UCR. He also maintains equipment and technology as the quartermaster and systems officer.

COMMUNITY SERVICE & SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER:
• Coordinate the DEA Drug Take Back event for the Middletown
community twice annually. On average, 60-70 pounds of drugs are
collected and safely disposed of.
• Facilitate classes to school-age children at the request of the school,
daycare or other approved entity.
• Lead coordinator for local initiative of annual National Night Out
program, an event that has garnered thousands in attendance year-
over-year to foster and improve community/police relations.
• Actively attend and participate in events within the community as
requested including, but not limited to: Bike-A-Thon, Emergency
Responder visits, Career Day at area high school, presenting Boy
Scout merit badges.
• Serve as a consistently reliable contact and resource amongst
peers in connecting area residents without food and/or shelter with
organizations that can provide assistance.
CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR:
• TAC/JTAC Officer: Reconcile warrants and other NCIC data to
ensure necessary compliance, an area the department is audited on.
• Megan’s Law Unit Officer: Review correspondence from
Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Megan’s Law unit. Monitor and
investigate Megan’s law offenders residing, working or going to
school in the Middletown Borough. If infractions are identified, I
coordinate with DA’s office to determine if the case merits charges to
be brought.
• 104’s: Investigate allegations of child abuse and coordinate the
findings between Children and Youth and the DA’s office.
• Evidence Technician: Manage and maintain the department’s flow
of evidence.
