GE LIGHTING INSTALLS ENERGY EFFICIENT LED STREET LIGHT SOLUTIONS FOR AL AIN MUNICIPALITY GE Lighting has completed the installation of energy efficient LED lighting in Al Ain Municipality in Abu Dhabi, as part of an agreement to provide energy efficient solutions for the municipality's public lighting project. The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 234,000 kg per year.

Balatonfüred Town Council in Hungary, as part of its greening strategy, changed its old lighting system to GE’s public LED lighting solution, with increased energy efficiency, long-life and low maintenance. Balatonfüred is the first town in Europe to roll out GE's LED streetlights. Most streetlamps currently in place are in desperate need of an upgrade. Streetlighting accounts for a whopping 30% of the average local authority's energy bill – lighting is a very resource-hungry utility. It becomes especially wasteful when the lights aren't operating at their most efficient and therefore haemorrhages funds that could be better used elsewhere. In Balatonfüred, a town with a population of only 13,500 people, 1,400 GE luminaires have already been rolled out, and the town is already planning to install the lighting across the entire town and reap the benefits.

When the Wyndham Grand Regency in Doha, Qatar decided to make the leap from inefficient halogen bulbs to LEDs it turned to GE Lighting to provide a solution that would reduce the hotel’s energy consumption in-line with its desire to promote green practices and environmental sustainability. The lighting solution will save 184,800W energy per year and 12,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, in addition to delivering superior aesthetics that reflect the high standards kept by the hotel.
