2. Joseph Forgives his Brothers
Of Jacob's 12 sons, Joseph was his father's favorite. Joseph's older brothers finally became so jealous of
him that they nearly killed him, threw him into a pit, and then sold him into slavery. The slave traders
then took Joseph to Egypt.

3. One night, the Pharaoh, which is what the
Egyptians called their kings, had two dreams that
disturbed him greatly. None of his advisors could
tell him the meaning of the dreams.
God had given Joseph the ability to interpret
dreams, so Pharaoh had Joseph brought to him.
Joseph interpreted the dreams for him and said,
"God is going to send seven years of plentiful
harvests, followed by seven years of famine."
Pharaoh was so impressed with Joseph that he
appointed him to be the second most powerful
man in all of Egypt!

называли своих правителей) приснилось два
сна, которые сильно его встревожили. Никто
из его советников не мог объяснить значение
этих снов.
Бог дал Иосифу дар истолкования снов,
поэтому фараон велел привести юношу.
Иосиф истолковал сны фараону, сказав: «Бог
пошлет семь урожайных лет, а за ними
последуют семь лет голода». Фараон был
так поражен мудростью Иосифа, что сделал
его вторым самым могущественным
правителем Египта!

4. Joseph told the people to
store up large amounts of
food during the seven
years of good harvests.
Then Joseph sold the food
to the people when the
seven years of famine
came so they would have
enough to eat.
Иосиф распорядился,
чтобы в течение семи
урожайных лет люди
делали запасы зерна.
Когда наступили семь
лет голода, он начал
продавать зерно
народу в пищу.

5. The famine was severe not only in Egypt, but also in Canaan where Jacob and his family lived. So Jacob
sent his older sons to Egypt to buy food. The brothers did not recognize Joseph when they stood before
him to buy food. But Joseph recognized them.

Ханаан - землю,

своей семьей.

Египет своих
старших сыновей,

6. After testing his brothers to see if they had changed, Joseph said to them, "I am your brother, Joseph!
Do not be afraid. You tried to do evil when you sold me as a slave, but God used the evil for good!
Come and live in Egypt so I can provide for you and your families."
Joseph forgave his brothers, because by then he understood that God had let him go through all those
difficulties for his own and their eventual good.

своих братьев, чтобы
узнать, смогли ли они
измениться, и после этого
признался: «Я - ваш брат
Иосиф! Не бойтесь. Вы
пытались сделать зло, когда
продали меня в рабство, но
Бог обратил зло во благо!
Приходите жить в Египет,
и я буду обеспечивать вас и
ваши семьи».
Иосифа простил их, потому
что к тому времени понял,
что Бог дал ему все эти
трудности и испытания
для его и их будущего блага.

7. The Story of Jonah
God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and deliver a warning; but Jonah didn’t fancy that, and instead he caught
a boat headed in the opposite direction. He ended up in the belly of a large fish, but when he turned back
to God, God mercifully delivered him. Back on dry land, he went on to do what God had asked.
The people of Nineveh believed God. They decided to stop eating for a time to think about their sins. They
put on special clothes to show they were sorry. God saw what the people did. He saw that they stopped
doing evil. So God changed his mind and did not do what he planned. He did not punish the people.

Бог сказал Иона идти в Ниневию и
предупредить её жителей, но Ионе не
хотелось этого делать, и он отправился на
корабле в противоположном направлении.
Он оказался в чреве кита. На этом всё могло
бы закончиться, но он обратился к Богу, и
Тот милостиво избавил его. Иона вышел на
землю и выполнил Божье повеление.
Ниневитяне поверили Богу и объявили пост,
и все – от большого до малого – оделись в
рубище. Когда Бог увидел то, что они
сделали, и как они оставили свои злые пути,
Он смилостивился и не стал насылать на
них беду, которой Он им грозил.

8. Jonah was not happy that God saved the city.
Then the Lord said, “But Nineveh has more
than 120,000 people, not to mention all the
animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great
city?”
Иона был этим очень недоволен и злился.
Но Господь сказал: – Мне ли не пожалеть
великого города Ниневии, где больше ста
двадцати тысяч жителей не знают, где
право, где лево, а также много скота?

9. The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
One day a king decided to call in his officials
and ask them to give an account of what
they owed him.
Притча о непрощающем слуге
Царство Небесное подобно царю,
который захотел сосчитаться с рабами
своими.

10. As he was doing this, one
official was brought in who
owed him sixty million silver
coins. But he didn’t have any
money to pay what he owed.
The king ordered him to be
sold, along with his wife and
children and all he owned, in
order to pay the debt.
Когда он стал с ними
рассчитываться, к нему
привели слугу, который
задолжал ему десять
тысяч талантов. Но
так как слуга не мог
расплатиться,
господин приказал
продать его вместе с
женой, детьми и со
всем его имуществом в
уплату долга.

11. The official got down on his knees
and began begging, “Have pity on
me, and I will pay you every cent I
owe!” The king felt sorry for him
and let him go free. He even told
the official that he did not have to
pay back the money.
Тогда слуга упал перед ним
ниц и стал умолять его:
„Потерпи, и я расплачусь с
тобой”.
Господин сжалился над
слугой, отпустил его и
простил ему долг.

12. As the official was leaving, he happened to meet
another official, who owed him a hundred silver coins.
So he grabbed the man by the throat. He started
choking him and said, “Pay me what you owe!”
The man got down on his knees and began begging,
“Have pity on me, and I will pay you back.” But the first
official refused to have pity. Instead, he went and had
the other official put in jail until he could pay what he
owed.
Этот же слуга пошёл к одному из своих
собратьев-слуг, который задолжал ему сто
динариев, схватил его за горло и стал душить,
приговаривая: „Заплати то, что ты мне
должен”.
Тогда должник упал на колени и стал умолять
его: „Потерпи, и я уплачу тебе”. Но слуга этот
не пожелал так сделать, а пошёл и посадил того
должника в тюрьму, пока тот не уплатит ему
долг.

13. When some other officials found out what
had happened, they told the king what the
first official did. The king called the first
official back in and said, “You’re an evil man!
When you begged for mercy, I said you did
not have to pay back a cent. Don’t you think
you should show pity to someone else, as I
did to you?” The king then ordered the
official to be punished until he could pay back
everything he owed.
Когда другие слуги увидели, что
случилось, то очень огорчились и
рассказали господину своему о том, что
произошло. Тогда господин призвал к
себе слугу и сказал ему: „Негодный слуга!
Ведь я простил тебе весь долг, потому
что ты молил меня об этом. Так разве
не должен был и ты проявить
милосердие к ближнему своему, также
как и я сжалился над тобой?” И в гневе
господин приказал бросить слугу для
наказания в тюрьму, где он должен был
отбывать срок заключения до тех пор,
пока не выплатит весь свой долг.

14. What Jesus Said on the Cross
"Father, forgive them, for they know not
what they do" (Luke 23:34).
"Them" were the Roman soldiers who
had been following Pontius Pilate's orders
when they nailed Jesus to the cross to
die. "Them" were also those in the mob
that had called for Jesus' death.
Что Иисус сказал на кресте
Отче! прости им, ибо не знают, что
делаютИ (Евангелие от Луки, 23:34).
Им это римским солдатам,
прибивавшим Иисуса к кресту. Им это
и сбитой с толку толпе марионеток,
требовавшей смерти Иисуса и
вынудившей Пилата распять Его.

15. In asking His Father to forgive those who had turned on Him and those who had carried out His
execution, Jesus actually spoke in their defense, and in so doing proved in the most powerful way
possible that He believed what He had taught: "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do
good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you" (Matthew
5:44). Despite the shame and pain the Romans heaped on Jesus, He forgave them. He also forgave
those who had turned on Him. Now He wants us to have that much love, that much forgiveness.
Умоляя Отца простить людей,
обратившихся против Него, а заодно и своих
палачей, Иисус выступил в их защиту, и
таким образом доказал, что как никто
другой верен Своему учению: ЗЛюбите
врагов ваших, благословляйте
проклинающих вас, благотворите
ненавидящим вас и молитесь за обижающих
вас и гонящих васИ (от Матфея, 5:44).
Несмотря на позор и боль, причиненные
Иисусу римлянами, Он простил их. Он
простил также и обратившуюся против
Него толпу. И теперь Он хочет, чтобы и мы
проявляли любовь и прощение в той же
мере.
