4. Parts of Somalia have been labelled a famine, a term reserved for the most extreme humanitarian catastrophes.

5. The United Nations says that 29,000 children have already died.

6. Pastoralists–people who rely on livestock for a living–are among the hardest hit.

7. Asha Ahmed, mother of four, lost two of her children and all of her animals to the drought .

9. Canadian Foodgrains Bank is Responding.

10. The Foodgrains Bank is supporting $8.5 million worth of projects in East Africa.

11. These projects will provide food for over 250,000 people in Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

12. People in the region will receive wheat, corn, pulses, and oil.
