The student proposes creating a documentary on the history of Formula 1 racing as their final major project. They have had a lifelong passion for F1 and see this as an opportunity to combine that interest with developing their video production skills. Specifically, they want to research old records and magazines to learn about the early machinery used in F1 racing. The goal is to educate viewers and give them a new appreciation for the history and development of the sport through an informative yet sometimes comedic documentary style video.

FMP idea?

Why have you decided to make it? To combine a long-time passion of mine with
college work in hopes to test my video making

What about your project makes it important to
you?
I have loved F1 from a very young age so and
excuse to incorporate it into my FMP was an
opportunity I couldn’t pass up on. It can also test
my video making skills in a way I haven’t tried
before meaning I can branch my skills out even
further.
Outline some of the initial influences on your
idea/work and some potential research targets
(remember, research isn’t just a paper-based
activity)
My main influence is my love for the sport. I’ve
always loved looking into the deep history of the
sport and it’s something I enjoy looking at. I want
to specifically look at old records and magazines
regarding the sport and the type of machinery
used.
What effect do you want to have on your
audience when they see your project?
I want them to walk away from my video knowing
they might have learnt something they never
knew. More of an appreciation for F1

[which production techniques/characteristics are
you employing?]
The tone of the project will for the most part be
serious but with bits of comedy in there. I want to
aim for a very informative piece.
