This didactic unit has been designed to pupils of 2nd year of Primary Education. It 
will be developed throughout 4 weeks (7th September - 2nd October). It will consist 
of 8 activities, 2 for each week. 
Moreover, two Zoom meetings, of about 40 minutes each, will take place: one on 
the first week and the other on the fourth week.  
 
The topic we are going to be working with is: ‘’​My day’​’. For the first week, the 
focus will be ‘​’Days of the week’’​.   
For the second week, we are going to focus on different activities we do throughout 
the day, only for Monday to Friday. It will be a brief introduction to - ‘’​Daily 
routine​’’.  
 
The third week will be similar to the first and second week, only focused on the 
weekend and ‘’​My Hobbies​’’  
 
And finally, for the fourth week we are going to compare my week routine and my 
weekend routine. How are they different? What activities do I do on the weekend? 
What about the week? The fourth week will be mainly focused on developing their 
speaking skills as well as to make sure students learnt the new content by playing a 
Bingo game.

Materials
Students will need their notebooks, and technological devices to access our Zoom
class. As well as Internet connection.The teacher will have the flashcards and the
game ready to give them access.

Procedures
ROUTINE (5’)
I will make sure every student is online before the class starts. Some connection problems
might appear so I will make sure students can hear and see me. While I wait for everybody, I
will greet them: ‘’​Hello guys! How are you? Let’s wait for everybody. Can you hear me
alright? Good! ‘’ ​There are 24 students, I will say hello to each one of them in order to
engage and make them feel welcomed.
WARM- UP AND PRESENTATION (10-12’)
I will ask them if they know what day is it: ​What day is today?​ They will probably answer in
Spanish:​ ‘’Lunes’​’ - ​Yes! Today is MONDAY. Monday is the first day of the week. Do you like
Monday? Monday is a good day! My birthday is on a Monday this year! ​ Students will
probably say it is not a good day, I will take the opportunity and ask them what their favorite
day is - Some will say the weekend. ‘​’I love the weekend too but mondays are fun, I see you
guys on mondays’’
‘’Today I have my little friends to help us with the class - my little cats! Please, let’s take
your notebooks out. ​I will share my screen and show them different
flashcards with the name of the days, and they’ll write them down in
order to get acquaintance with the spelling of each day.
‘’Monday is the FIRST day of the week’’ I will ask students
questions such as ‘’Who likes Mondays?’’ ‘’A qué hora se levantan
on MONDAYS?’’ It is expected that students answer in Spanish, I
will try to use English as much as possible although my focus in this
class will be mainly on the new words. I will do this every day until
Friday.
My aim with the use of ordinal numbers is to avoid using spanish as much as possible. For
example, instead of saying: ‘​’Wednesday is miercoles’’ - I will say ‘’ Wednesday is the third
day of the week’’​ more so, I will lift up three fingers in order to scaffold. The flashcards
shown express everyday ‘’mood’’. The idea is to engage with students since they probably
have different pets. ​‘’Look at this cat - He’s happy because it’s friday’’
DEVELOPMENT (PRACTICE and PRODUCTION) (15’)
After going through every flashcard and making sure they are pronouncing it right. I will
propose a game. ​Good! Who is ready for a game?

Since there are 24 students in the class, I am going to divide them in 6 small groups of 4
students. Students will be asked to share their screen so I can have access. They will have
about 5-7 minutes to finish the game. I am going to ‘’get in’’ every small group and see how
they are doing. This is a good game to get acquainted with every word, students will be able
to hear the pronunciation and develop their memory as well.
The second activity will consist of asking them to take out a 2021 calendar. Or look at the
one in the computer. ​Ok! Good job guys! Now, please look at the calendar. Try to find your
birthday next year and write the day in your notebook. ​For example:
‘’My birthday in 2021 will be on a …… SUNDAY!‘’ → ​I will write this phrase on the                     
whiteboard so they can have a visual support.
I will go by every student so they all have the opportunity to say when their birthday will be.
CLOSURE (3’)
Before we go, I will ask them:​ Do you have any doubt regarding all we have learnt?” ‘’Did
you have any problems with your internet connection? ‘’ ​- it is necessary to be sure that the
class was successful for everybody.
I will inform them that they can find the homework in our Google Classroom. ​‘’Ask me if you
have any doubts. I miss you!! ​- I will say goodbye to them.

This week we are going to make a poster about our week. We need to 
create a poster with two different days, one week day and one weekend 
day, for example Tuesday and Saturday.  
 
On the poster, we need to express different activities that we do on 
those days. You can use magazines, newspapers, internet photos… Be 
creative!  
 
Everybody will explain their poster in our next Zoom Class.

‘’Well everybody! Your posters were AMAZING - I loved them’’.​ I will let them know that the
posters were fantastic and very creative. I will make sure everybody has already sent them
and solve problems in case they have them. ‘’​Now, each one will explain their poster to the
class. Are you guys ready?’’ ​The aim of sharing their poster does not only improve their
speaking skills, but also it gives them validation and feedback by the teacher and also their
classmates.
After every student has explained their poster, we are going to play a game!
DEVELOPMENT (PRACTICE and PRODUCTION) (15’)
‘’Great! Who likes bingo?’’ Take out your bingo’s cards’’ ​Every student should have two
printed bingo cards in order to play. We will play the games twice. One card each time.
Every time someone called ‘’linea’’ or ‘’bingo’’ - students will be asked to say what words
they have on their cards.’’ I have play football, read, go to school’’ ​ ​The same way, those
students who ‘’loses’’ will have to explain what words they are still missing: ‘’ ​I haven’t got:
ride my bike, Monday, Saturday and have breakfast’’ ​The aim is to be able to listen how
every one of them pronounce the words and scaffold by repeating the words after them.
CLOSURE (3’)
Before we go, I will ask them:’’ ​Did you like the game? What about the activities, were they
fun? Do you think they were difficult? Which one did you like the most?’’
I will explain to them that the next class is up on our Google Class. ‘’Ok everybody! Enjoy
the weekend and have fun! The next class will be on Monday’’

Catalan Didactic Unit 1

  • 2.       This didactic unit has been designed to pupils of 2nd year of Primary Education. It  will be developed throughout 4 weeks (7th September - 2nd October). It will consist  of 8 activities, 2 for each week.  Moreover, two Zoom meetings, of about 40 minutes each, will take place: one on  the first week and the other on the fourth week.     The topic we are going to be working with is: ‘’​My day’​’. For the first week, the  focus will be ‘​’Days of the week’’​.    For the second week, we are going to focus on different activities we do throughout  the day, only for Monday to Friday. It will be a brief introduction to - ‘’​Daily  routine​’’.     The third week will be similar to the first and second week, only focused on the  weekend and ‘’​My Hobbies​’’     And finally, for the fourth week we are going to compare my week routine and my  weekend routine. How are they different? What activities do I do on the weekend?  What about the week? The fourth week will be mainly focused on developing their  speaking skills as well as to make sure students learnt the new content by playing a  Bingo game.       Didactic Unit: My Day

  • 4. Language Focus Materials Students will need their notebooks, and technological devices to access our Zoom class. As well as Internet connection.The teacher will have the flashcards and the game ready to give them access. LEXIS FUNCTIONS STRUCTURE R E V - ‘’To be’’ - To express my birthday. ‘’My birthday is… ‘’ N E W - Ordinal numbers - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - To learn the days of the week and their order. - ‘’Monday is the first day of the week’’
  • 5. Procedures ROUTINE (5’) I will make sure every student is online before the class starts. Some connection problems might appear so I will make sure students can hear and see me. While I wait for everybody, I will greet them: ‘’​Hello guys! How are you? Let’s wait for everybody. Can you hear me alright? Good! ‘’ ​There are 24 students, I will say hello to each one of them in order to engage and make them feel welcomed. WARM- UP AND PRESENTATION (10-12’) I will ask them if they know what day is it: ​What day is today?​ They will probably answer in Spanish:​ ‘’Lunes’​’ - ​Yes! Today is MONDAY. Monday is the first day of the week. Do you like Monday? Monday is a good day! My birthday is on a Monday this year! ​ Students will probably say it is not a good day, I will take the opportunity and ask them what their favorite day is - Some will say the weekend. ‘​’I love the weekend too but mondays are fun, I see you guys on mondays’’ ‘’Today I have my little friends to help us with the class - my little cats! Please, let’s take your notebooks out. ​I will share my screen and show them different flashcards with the name of the days, and they’ll write them down in order to get acquaintance with the spelling of each day. ‘’Monday is the FIRST day of the week’’ I will ask students questions such as ‘’Who likes Mondays?’’ ‘’A qué hora se levantan on MONDAYS?’’ It is expected that students answer in Spanish, I will try to use English as much as possible although my focus in this class will be mainly on the new words. I will do this every day until Friday.
  • 6. My aim with the use of ordinal numbers is to avoid using spanish as much as possible. For example, instead of saying: ‘​’Wednesday is miercoles’’ - I will say ‘’ Wednesday is the third day of the week’’​ more so, I will lift up three fingers in order to scaffold. The flashcards shown express everyday ‘’mood’’. The idea is to engage with students since they probably have different pets. ​‘’Look at this cat - He’s happy because it’s friday’’ DEVELOPMENT (PRACTICE and PRODUCTION) (15’) After going through every flashcard and making sure they are pronouncing it right. I will propose a game. ​Good! Who is ready for a game? https://www.eslgamesplus.com/days-of-the-week-esl-vocabulary-game/ Since there are 24 students in the class, I am going to divide them in 6 small groups of 4 students. Students will be asked to share their screen so I can have access. They will have about 5-7 minutes to finish the game. I am going to ‘’get in’’ every small group and see how they are doing. This is a good game to get acquainted with every word, students will be able to hear the pronunciation and develop their memory as well. The second activity will consist of asking them to take out a 2021 calendar. Or look at the one in the computer. ​Ok! Good job guys! Now, please look at the calendar. Try to find your birthday next year and write the day in your notebook. ​For example: ‘’My birthday in 2021 will be on a …… SUNDAY!‘’ → ​I will write this phrase on the                      whiteboard so they can have a visual support. I will go by every student so they all have the opportunity to say when their birthday will be.
  • 7. CLOSURE (3’) Before we go, I will ask them:​ Do you have any doubt regarding all we have learnt?” ‘’Did you have any problems with your internet connection? ‘’ ​- it is necessary to be sure that the class was successful for everybody. I will inform them that they can find the homework in our Google Classroom. ​‘’Ask me if you have any doubts. I miss you!! ​- I will say goodbye to them.   • 12.                         Week 4 → Review with a poster!                This week we are going to make a poster about our week. We need to  create a poster with two different days, one week day and one weekend  day, for example Tuesday and Saturday.     On the poster, we need to express different activities that we do on  those days. Are you guys ready?’’ ​The aim of sharing their poster does not only improve their speaking skills, but also it gives them validation and feedback by the teacher and also their classmates. After every student has explained their poster, we are going to play a game! DEVELOPMENT (PRACTICE and PRODUCTION) (15’) ‘’Great! Who likes bingo?’’ Take out your bingo’s cards’’ ​Every student should have two printed bingo cards in order to play. We will play the games twice. One card each time. Every time someone called ‘’linea’’ or ‘’bingo’’ - students will be asked to say what words they have on their cards.’’ I have play football, read, go to school’’ ​ ​The same way, those students who ‘’loses’’ will have to explain what words they are still missing: ‘’ ​I haven’t got: ride my bike, Monday, Saturday and have breakfast’’ ​The aim is to be able to listen how every one of them pronounce the words and scaffold by repeating the words after them.
  • 16. CLOSURE (3’) Before we go, I will ask them:’’ ​Did you like the game? What about the activities, were they fun? Do you think they were difficult? Which one did you like the most?’’ I will explain to them that the next class is up on our Google Class. ‘’Ok everybody! Enjoy the weekend and have fun!
