The candidate understands the importance of collaboration with families and the local community. They disagree with the view that meetings with parents are unimportant. Families play a crucial role in students' learning by helping children develop and preparing a supportive environment for study. The school should encourage parent visits and meetings to discuss changes, developments, and proposals that benefit both parties. As a teacher, their role involves helping parents understand student attitudes and performance, while also learning about any special student needs to provide appropriate support.

Disposition: Attitudes towards
the profession
A teacher who works in the school where you have been assigned to do your student teaching
always says: “We are tired, we can’t teach, teaching is a daunting job, we don’t have the time to
watch every student”. S/he even tells you that joining the College of Education is the biggest
mistake of your life. You feel like you want to give an immediate response to this teacher. You stand
up and face /him to give a reply. What would you say?
I have been studying for five years in the College of Education and du ring these years I
heard a lot of comments about being a teacher from our colleagues, friends and even teachers. I
hope that my family and best friend are not included in the list. Many people have negative attitude
towards the profession of teacher and they spread their ideas to teachers or those who are going to be
teachers. In my experience, a teacher of chemistry asked me, "And are you still thinking to be a
teacher?" with sarcastic tone. I did not want to discuss this topic so that they affect my own
perspectives and views.
If a teacher in the school said that joining the College of Education is the biggest mistake to me, I
would ask her some further questions to understand her attitude. I can first tell her that I am
very satisfied till this moment and I am excited to be part of this educational system. I also
would like to express the fact that unfortunately almost all of people complain about their jobs; you
hardly find people with one hundred percent satisfaction. I can ask her, "what other profession you
could do without getting tired!" because I believe that there is not such job in which you do the work
smoothly with no challenges.
Teaching is a great job that is why it needs a soul with patience and love. When we think that
students do really need to be educated and taught, it will become much easier to accept all the
pressure. Laziness and lack of responsibilities do not go in line with teaching, so being a teacher and
have such negative attitudes towards the profession is a waste of time and efforts for those teachers
and their students as well. The most harm is for the whole community because students consider
their teachers as models, whether good or bad.

Disposition: Diversity
You overhear your colleagues speaking about one of your pupils. They say that there is not much
sense in teaching him as he cannot understand and that he will drop out early anyways. Your own
experience with the child is that he is willing to learn and intelligent, but sometimes mixes up
letters and has problems concentrating in the classroom. He tends to withdraw from social
activities.
Do you agree with your colleagues? If not, what can you do to assist this child in his learning
process? And how can you address the issue with your colleagues?
As a teacher, I believe that each student has something special and can do magnificent work in
certain aspect or field. Students also differ in their learning styles, so if a student did not
understand the subject matter, it might be attributed to the fact that the ways teacher's
uses is not suitable for the student's learning preference and style. Thus, we cannot judge
and expect such students to fail especially if the show motivation and interest in the subject.
I disagree with my colleague since this is considered as individual differences between students
and it is normal. This student may have some problems that affected his way of living. It
might also be some learning difficulty or mental disorder. Since he is intelligent, I can let him
work in activities that help him develop his tools and improve his skills. Therefore, I can assist
the child by starting from the beginning in the letters and sounds. I can write the word in many
cards; each card includes one letter only so he can letters one by one. Regarding the problems in
concentrating during the lesson, I could let him go out for a couple of minutes for refreshing and
come back again. I also can call him and check if he is concentrated with me or not. Due to the
with draw from social activities, I let him work alone in the activities since he finds it difficult to
do a group task. Actually, it happened to me as a student and I owed to the teachers who let me
do the tasks individually. Those teachers were good and they recognized their students' needs and
styles of learning. If he performed well as individual, I can let him work with a partner to see
whether it affects him positively or negatively.
I would show my colleague the progress and the assessment results to convince that this student
is brilliant and can get better fast. I can tell her what the suitable techniques to deal with such
student.

Disposition: Lifelong
learning
Some of the teachers in the school you have been assigned to graduated more than ten years
ago. While observing their classes, you realize that they are not aware of latest developments
in your field of teaching. Even the methods of instruction and assessments seem outdated to
you. You think about how to address this topic with your older colleagues. How do you
imagine yourself in your profession after ten or more years? What could make your
professional future similardifferent from your colleagues’? How would this affect your
teaching practices?
Education field has been developing continuously. We can add new knowledge and
experiences to our old one each year. Therefore, we must keep in touch with the news and
studies to adapt it in our everyday teaching. Years of teaching, experience is good and helps
teachers to develop professionally; however, it is not sufficient. We can see a novice teacher
that uses brilliant methods of instruction and assessment, while the experienced teacher does
not. This is attributed to the term of lifelong learning in which teachers are learners all their
professional lives.
After ten years , I would try to make it different than my colleague by trying to understand the
new generations and analyze their needs. Based on the answers of this question, I can use
suitable methods of teaching that help learners develop and make them love the subject. I
would like to influence my students' lives in a way or another and let them think and strive for
success and opportunities in life on a personal level. I would be more happy if the effect was
on their academic level. Utilizing technologies either for teaching or developing our tools as
teachers is very useful and helpful. I imagine myself a successful teacher who avails from
each day experience, in addition to different sources of knowledge, since knowledge has been
very accessible. I would be similar to my colleague in the way she learns from her own
experiences; for example, she knows how to deal with students' discipline because of her long
experience. However, I would be different from my colleague in the notion of lifelong
learning. I would try to learn not only from my own experience, but from sources and
observations. I would never be embarrassed to attend with a novice teacher to learn from her,
since she could be updated with new ways because of her age and different generation. This
affect my teaching practices since students will be interested and enthusiastic to learn.

Taking responsibility
A large number of students in your class perform poorly in tests and continuous assessment.
What can you do to understand the reasons? What could be the reasons? What action plan
would you take to address this? Would these test results have any impact in your teaching?
Explain how.
The test is a way to measure students' performance and the test itself ! In other words, the test
also needs to be good and we can know if the test is good or not by analyzing students' results.
The good test must be suitable for all the students and the average of students' results must be
in the normal carve. However, the difficulty of the test is not only the reason of students' poor
performance. There are different reasons why students do not perform well in the tests such as
the students themselves or the teacher.
It is difficult, though, to blame all students because it is impossible that a large number of
students agree not to do the test. We can know if it is because of the teacher or the test by
giving the same test to another group with another teacher. If students got good results, it
means that the problem is not in the test, but in the teacher. I might not give them the right
instruction during the classroom, or not give them the guide of the test (what is included in the
test). Moreover, teacher can have a whole lesson discussing students achievement in the tests
and assessment to know the real reasons why they keep failing the exams. If it is because of
the teacher, the students may feel shy to talk, so a good way to address this problem is by
telling students from the beginning if they want to discuss it together or write down the
reasons without names since all students will feel free to write.
We cannot leave the students when we see a poor performance of students in their tests.
Assessment is a very helpful tool to assess students, teachers, and the tests. If there is anything
wrong in the result, teachers must take action immediatel

Collaboration
Now that you are at school, you realize that collaboration with other teachers in particular and
the whole school community in general is essential. Explain how you have reached this
realization. What steps are you taking to strengthen collaboration with others? What do you
use collaboration for?
Collaboration is very important in school communities. It is helpful for every person engaged
in the collaborative activities; because in such activities, people share what they know and
what they have experienced. Sharing knowledge will develop each person in that group. In
addition, collaborative work results in a unique and distinguishable product, since many minds
advocate time and effort to produce such result.
It happened many times that I worked either with a partner or with a group of colleagues. It
affects the high quality of the work. Sometimes, I have an idea, which cannot be real, if I am
working on it alone. For example, during this experience of teaching, my colleague and I
wanted to know the reasons and type of side talk in the classroom. If I were alone, it would be
too difficult to address all aspects of the problem since I cannot focus on teaching and side
talk altogether. I worked with a colleague who attended my classes to observe and address the
problem and so I did. We could know the type of side talk faster and in a sufficient way. In
addition, my colleagues and I stay together to discuss some issues and challenges in our
classrooms. We share the feedbacks provided by teachers to learn from one another.
Collaboration in taking substitution periods is also a good example of teachers'
collaboration. During the semester, there are some circumstances that might happen to some
teachers and they cannot come to school. We help each other to be in their class. It is more
helpful if the teacher can give the students a lesson so that it is not wasted.
Collaborative work teaches us taking the responsibility seriously. It also helps us being good
leaders. It gives the school the sense of real community and it reinforces school's culture.

Disposition: Collaboration with the community/families
A teacher in your school told you that there was a plan that the principal prepared last year for
family and community collaboration to support student learning. The plan involved monthly
meetings at different venues and times so as to reach out to all parents who cannot go to school
in the morning; however, it was impractical and mostly unimportant, so they did not implement
it. Do you agree with your colleagues’ opinion? Do families and local communities play any
role in students’ learning? What do you think your school’s plan for this year should involve in
terms of goals and means of interaction and collaboration? What is your role as a teacher in
this?
The connections between school and community must be emphasized through the activities and
meetings that reinforce the common roles of the two communities in the students' lives.
I disagree that meetings with parents are unimportant; they are crucial. All parties strive for
achieving common goals that is why the contact between these communities is essential.
Families are part of the learning process of their children. They help their children to develop
and prepare for them the good atmosphere for their study.
The school reinforces the collaboration with the outside community by encouraging parents to
visit the school. It also holds meetings with parents to talk about the changes and developments
in addition to proposals that would benefit both parties. My role as a teacher in the community
collaboration is to help parents know more about the attitudes and academic level of students in
the classroom. In addition, they can tell me if there is any special condition about their children,
so I make it in consideration. We could stay together to think about students' needs and their
generally preferable ways and methods of teaching. Teacher could also provide feedback for
parents about what their children need the most to get further step in the academic level.
