At the Hague conference on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change, Farming First held a side event ‘Best practices in agricultural value chains’, where spokespeople presented examples of initiatives that aim to increase resilience and productivity at different points in the value chain.

Project participants results:
Issaka Dankoyo – Vegetable
grower in Niamey district.
Planted Tomato in the hot season
(late season) on 250 m².
The yield harvested was 2400 Kg
(96 Ton/Ha), marketed at an
average price of 600 CFA/Kg =
1,440,000 CFA income.

Hadayo Sidiko – One of a 7-
women-group,
A vegetable grower from
Andouanga village.
Each woman cultivated 80m2 of
land with various vegetable crops
irrigated with Drip kits system.
Though she did not weight the
products, her estimate is that she
harvested daily, over a 45 day
period, 5kg of Tomatoes (= 28ton/
ha). The family and her neighbors
consumed most of the yield and
the rest was sold to the market
with an income of 22,000 CFA.
