It has been REBORN as Fukuoka Growth Next, sporting a new name and mission. Fukuoka Growth Next is a startup support facility leveraging public-private collaboration. It serves as a launchpad for startup companies in Fukuoka City, an up- and-coming destination for global entrepreneurs

  16. 16. 16 © NEC Corporation 2018 Status Summary ▌FIWARE penetration in Japan ongoing for Smart City and also for Smart Industry and its first year achievement looks satisfactory ▌Nevertheless, even with NEC’s rich networking capability (and visibility) in Japan, FIWARE ecosystem building is seeing challenges. ●Very slow development of FIWARE visibility to regional startups/SMEs as app developers ●Inter-city consortia do exist but mentoring toward digital transformation/disruption stays weak ★ Expectation to FIWARE Europe toward globalization: Leading best practices, Flagship city references (transformation outcomes, financial sustainability, etc)
  17. 17. 17 © NEC Corporation 2018 NEC’s Commitment toward Globalization of FIWARE ▌NEC will continue to work on expanding and strengthening FIWARE ecosystem in Japan for Smart City and Smart Industry with multilateral strategy and effort ▌NEC is putting a focus also in India. In addition to existing FIWARE community member’s efforts, NEC will make increased investment in FIWARE community activities to strengthen FIWARE ecosystem in India ▌For FIWARE in Europe, NEC EU teams are committed to continue collaborating with the European stakeholders ● Technology development ● Standardization ● Business deployment
