provider to many disk drive and device manufacturing companies such as IBM, Conner Peripherals, LTX Trillium, Maxtor, Applied Materials, Read-Rite,
Komag, etc.
Successfully lead Seagate Technologies worldwide Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS) elimination division in the development of alternative cleaning
processes, equipment design and implemented worldwide under budget and ahead of mandated schedule.
Developed a PVA cleaning brush for glass and aluminum disk substrates and silicon wafer cleaning, generating sustained annual revenues over $5 million with
gross margins exceeding 65%, with no capital startup investment. At that time, SpeedFam did not produce or supply any PVA products. SpeedFam-IPEC
purchased the manufacturing company and now manufactures PVA internally.
Successfully managed and led the design, development, and manufacturing of the “Capella” wafer cleaner, which became the enabling cleaning technology for
the Auriga-C CMP tool.
As General Manager of SpeedFam, I successfully managed the domestic and international design, development, and manufacturing of the “Neptune” laminar
flow disk media and HDD parts cleaner, providing new equipment platforms for diversification into various markets and applications and became the enabling
technology for glass disk media production. Introduced, marketed and sold the “Neptune” laminar flow cleaner technology into the marketplace and secured a
six tool first order, which produced revenues of over 15 million dollars the first year introduced.
Conceptualized, designed, engineered and manufactured scrub-under-immersion technology used for precision cleaning of disk media substrates. This
technology has become a standard for new equipment and retrofits in installed equipment. Benefits are higher customer yields, cost reduction, and improved
product quality. This technology also extended the life cycle of the equipment marketability.
Accredited with (5) five international patents for: Wafer Cleaning Apparatus, PVA Brush Center Core Design, PVA Exoskeleton Brush Design, Ultrasonic
Cleaning Apparatus, etc. Additional patent submissions are currently in process. Complete list of patent filed and pending are available upon request.
