There are two Ozone layers. One is in the troposphere, which is the basically the air that surrounds us and the atmosphere which air plains travel in. The other ozone layer is in the middle of the stratosphere. Which is the next level above the troposphere.
1. After doing some studying on global warming, I think I can
shed much more light on the topic. Well, the earth’s atmosphere has 4 layers. The Troposphere,
Stratosphere, Mesosphere, and Thermosphere. I’ll be focusing on the Troposphere, and the
Stratosphere. Alright, we’ve all heard about global warming, and I’m sure we all have an idea as to
what it is.
If you don’t know: Global warming is the effect of the thickening of the ozone layer. It is caused by
pollutants that are given off by factories, cars and etc. Due to the thickening of the ozone layer, an
increasing amount of sun rays/heat are being trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. (causing warmth)
Alright, now this is what most people don’t know. There are two Ozone layers. One is in the
troposphere, which is the basically the air that surrounds us and the atmosphere which air plains
travel in. The other ozone layer is in the middle of the stratosphere. Which is the next level above
the troposphere.
Global warming comes from the ozone layer in the troposphere. This is formed from
pollutants that are put into the air. These pollutants hang out in the air, form smog, and eventually
heat our planet little by little (Green House effect). Usually green house gases are not bad because
they keep the earth warm. But due to all the industrialization, these gases are building up and are
becoming more harmful.
The Ozone layer in the stratosphere is extremely important to survival. It absorbs ultraviolet
radiation, and allows for survival. Ultraviolet radiation is linked with skin cancer, premature skin
aging, and cataracts. It is also know to harm crops, and kill small organisms such as plankton. As a
matter of fact, in the 1970s scientist claimed that this ozone layer was being depleted. Scientist
believed that the ozone layer was being destroyed by chlorofluorocarbons. A compound that was
used in air conditioners, solvents and aerosol sprays bottles.
Back in the day, the use of sunscreen wasn’t promoted as much as it is today, due to the fact
that the layer was sufficient enough. But today, if you stay out in sun too long, you’ll bear the marks
to prove it. The layer is returning , but is still far from its original state.
I hope that clears things up, and hopefully you’ve learned something new.
