Her Excellency Mrs. ‘Funmi OLAYINKA
Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria,
At the Official Presentation of Instrument of appointment and staff of
Office to His Royal Highness, Oba James Olufemi Omiyale, the new
Onipere of Ipere-Ekiti, on Saturday December 3, 2011.
PROTOCOLS
Distinguished citizens of Ipere Ekiti, I congratulate you on this
very special occasion of the coronation and presentation of Staff
of Office to His Royal Highness, Oba James Olufemi Omiyale,
the Onipere of Ipere Ekiti.
The Onipere is a recognized monarch going by the provisions of
Part 1 of Chiefs Edict 1984 as subsequently amended in 1991.
You will all recall the stool of the Onipere became vacant on
April 20, 2008 following the demise of Oba D.K Osasona, who
hailed from Isaba Ruling House.
I am told that the Ilejemeje Local Government was instantly
directed to commence the process of filling the vacant stool in
accordance with the extant law regulating the appointment of
any recognized Chief.
It is heart-warming to note therefore, that the selection of Oba
James Olufemi Omiyale from Ilesemo Ruling House was made
in consonance with the provision of paragraph 1, Section 8 of
Chiefs Edict No 11 of 1984 in a manner that is completely
devoid of any political colouration and manipulation.
Let me reiterate at this juncture that the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led
administration has no interest in any candidate vying for any

position as we believe strongly in merit and transparency in all
things.
Kabiyesi, while congratulating you once again for ascending to
the throne of your fore-fathers, I wish to enjoin you to work
harmoniously with your people to accelerate the rate of
development in this Community. I also appeal to good people of
Ipere Community to allow the spirit of oneness and sincerity of
purpose to reflect in your support and cooperation with the
Kabiyesi.
As you all know, development is a long-term issue, which
requires time to mature. I am glad to inform you that this
administration has robust welfare programmes, which are
second to none. We must be ready at all times to give our best
to the administration to ensure the sustenance of the gains
already recorded.
Our plans to build a new Ekiti that we will all be proud of are
progressing without distractions. It is my pleasure therefore to
call on you good people of Ipere join us in realizing the lofty
goals that we have set for ourselves. Government alone cannot
satisfy all our needs and aspirations because the resources
available to it are limited.
I call on every son and daughter of Ipere Ekiti, at home and
abroad to come home and contribute their quota to the
economic development of the community in particular and the
state in general.
Kabiyesi, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, this
administration takes seriously to ensuring security of lives and
properties in the state. We must join hands with the State
Government and security agencies to maintain peace and

tranquility in our Communities thereby making the State crime-
free.
Let me also seize this opportunity to once more commend our
Royal Fathers for their exceptional contribution towards the
sustenance of peace and stability in the State; and for always
being there to resolve knotty issues of varied dimensions, for
the benefit of all.
Kabiyesi, I wish to implore you to maintain high sense of
responsibility, sincerity and always carry along your people
when taking decisions that affect their welfare. You should rise
up to the new challenges bestowed on you as the father of all.
On behalf of the Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and the
entire people of the Land of Honour, I convey government’s
assurances of best wishes always and pray that the Almighty
God would grant you the grace to reign peacefully in prosperity
and good health for many more years.
At this juncture distinguished sons and daughters of Ipere,
friends, guests and well wishers, on behalf of the peoples’
governor, I have the pleasure to formally present to you,
Kabiyesi, Oba James Olufemi Omiyale, the Staff of Office as the
Onipere of Ipere Ekiti, this day, 3rd December, 2011.
