Castles UK Ltd is a family-run business, one of the leading manufacturers specialising in the design and installation of high
quality, educational and residential furniture.
Based in Tockwith, a village between York and Harrogate, Castles UK Ltd was developed by David Baldwin in 2001 as a family
business, operating from a small workshop. Fourteen years on and four moves later we are now operating from a 20,000 sq ft
factory with state of the art machinery.
Our furniture is designed to be versatile and therefore we can provide furniture for any residential establishment,
we can offer you:
• An off-the-shelf range designed for flexibility to suit your desired specifications
• A bespoke design service so together we can produce a product which truly reflects your environment
• A total service – from initial consultation to producing planning drawings and 3D modelling

Arundel Bed Dover Bed
Storage Beds
The Arundel features one single drawer, a
solid top for your mattress to sit and can be
customised with one of our headboards
which are available curved or square.
Available in either 2ft 6” or 3ft widths and
6ft 3” length.

We like to make things to suit your needs so
if you’d like a different length or the drawers
positioned somewhere else, just let us know.
The Dover features two drawers and is great
to add storage if there’s isn’t room for a chest
of drawers. There is a solid top for your
mattress to sit and the bed can be customised
with one of our headboards which are
available curved or square.

The Dover Stopover is designed to
accommodate stop-overs or flexiboarding.

Low Berwick Bed
The Low Berwick is one of our most popular
beds and has four drawers and
two cupboards, it’s ideal for if you have little
space but need plenty of storage. It also
features a solid top for your mattress to sit.
You can customise the bed with one of our

This includes a shelving unit with power
sockets and a stow-away bookshelf.

All of our contract mattresses are made to order and are compliant with Source / CRIB 5 BS 7177
(2008) F.R. Regulations and are designed for use in all UK and EEC residential establishments.
We have a great selection for you to choose from:
• Stitch-bond - our economy mattress suitable for those on a tight budget
• PVC Coated - these are water resistant and wipe clean
• Contract Cloth - with 100% cotton finish this is one of our most popular choices providing a
nice, comfortable sleep
• Breathable Water Resistant - a higher quality version of the PVC as it’s breathable as well
as wipe clean, it’s another popular choice
• Jumbo Water Resistant or Cloth Finish - this is our largest mattress and is only available in
3ft width x 7ft long
All of our mattresses apart from the Jumbo are available in either 2ft 6” or 3ft widths and
6ft 3” length and as foam or sprung. We can also accommodate bespoke sizes.
All of our bedding is compliant with Source /

We can supply a range of bedding including;
duvets, pillows, pillowcases, sheets, duvet
covers, mattress protectors and

We pride ourselves on being versatile.
Our range of lockers compliment most
environments and standard spaces. If you are
looking for something different, our bespoke
designs are great for those which require
something more special.
Within in our standard range of lockers you
can choose from single door, 2 door or 3 door.
These all come with a choice of finishes,
handles or finger pulls.
We can design and fit large changing room
facilities as well as banks of free standing
lockers in classrooms or hallways.

We like to be as flexible as possible to provide
you with the furniture that suits your building.
This is why we have a bespoke design service,
so we can help you maximise space and
provide practical solutions.
Many schools ask for study areas, so we
thought we’d give you a few ideas of what
we’ve done before:
Sherfield School- Here we were asked to
create an I.T Suite where the base unit could
be stored at each desk and also have space to
take notes.
Dragon School prep room - Each student
needed an area without distraction as well as
a place to plug in laptops.
Bootham School - Bootham wanted a library
study area, so we created units where four
people can sit and study individually or in a
discussion/study group. We also added
sockets for electrical items to be plugged in.
King James - At this school they needed
study room and I.T suite, so we created a fixed
desk top space, divided underneath by
cupboards which can store computer bases
or work files.
We also have experience of designing science
labs and full libraries.

Offices
Offices
We don’t just specialise in areas for study, our
bespoke service can help with any room or
area you need furniture for.
Here we’ve got a case study of an office
project we have completed at More House
school. They needed a wide range of storage
space, including built-in cupboards, a set of
cupboards which could also act as a divider
between a waiting area and the office and a
set of file drawers.
They also needed a range of desks for office
staff, which included varying ranges of sizes
and storage. A new unit was also designed to
include a large desk and meeting space.
As well as office space we can also design
reception areas, staff rooms, waiting rooms
or large scale storage areas.

Individual Items
Individual Items
If you’re not looking for a whole room fit-out
we can design individual items for you or
adjust one of our standard products to fit
more suitably to your needs.
We can design anything from fitted music
room cupboards, to stylish pieces for
boarding common rooms or even special
wardrobes which make the most of awkward
spaces. If you can’t find a piece of standard
furniture to suit your needs, just give us a call
to discuss what you would like and we’ll
come up with a design.

Finishes & Details
Castors
You can choose to fit castors to the
furniture you order. They can be fitted to
most of our floor standing furniture.
Drawers
Our drawers are produced to a high
quality and feature strong, easy slide
brackets or bottom castors.
Handles
As standard we fit chrome handles to
most of our furniture but if you would
like something special we can be flexible.
Locks
All of our storage items can be fitted
with or without locks. You can choose
from open, a locking bar or barrel lock
with key.
Coloured Edging
Coloured edging can be added to all of
our furniture and can brighten
classrooms or identify different houses.
Finishes
We like to make sure your furniture fits
your surroundings and so we can offer a
range of finishes to suit your building.

How It’s Made
Design and Planning Manufacture Fitting

As part of the service at Castles you have as
much choice as you would like. You can
choose a piece from our standard range or
create your own.
If you choose to create your own, we will
organise a consultation with you, either over
the phone or come and visit you, so we can
measure up your project. After this we will
create a visual of your design so you can see
exactly what it will look like. Once you have
approved it, we will put it into production.
All of our furniture is designed and
manufactured in our factory in Tockwith, York
using state of the art machinery, highly skilled
operators and high quality 18mm thick
M/F MDF.
Our expeienced assembly team build your
furniture, quality checking as they go, to make
sure you receive the highest quality product.
We supply robust furniture that is produced to
a high standard, with the emphasis on quality
materials and carefully monitored production.
We like to help with your order as much as
possible, so if you need help fitting your
furniture we can supply a team of highly
skilled joiners and furniture fitters as an
added extra, to help make the process
easy for you.

• All items are subject to VAT
• There is no minimum order
1. All contracts shall be governed by the law of England and no condition contained herein shall prejudice the statutory rights of
the customer and supplier.
2. Customers must confirm orders in writing either by letter, email, or fax before manufacture can begin.
3. Cancellation of any order by the customer can only be accepted by agreement in writing (by email or letter). A reasonable
charge may be made to recover any costs incurred by Castles UK Ltd.
4. There is no charge for delivery within the UK Mainland on orders with a value of £10,000 exluding VAT. Orders below this value
will be charged at cost.
5. All vehicles are single driver delivery to one ground floor location with easy access for the vehicle. Distribution to individual
rooms is not included in the cost of delivery. Delivery and porterage services can be arranged subject to quotation.
6. All goods will be invoiced on the day of delivery and we require payment in full within 30 days from the date of the invoice.
Goods remain the property of Castles Uk Ltd until paid in full. For new customers or large orders we may require a
cutting deposit.
7. Notification of damaged goods must be made by the customer in writing (by email or letter) within 24 hours of delivery.
8. Contracts are subject to cancellation by the supplier owing to an act of God, war, fire, flood or other cause beyond the control
of the suppliers.
