The document discusses how Iora Technologies cloud applications can be used to create and cultivate community around compiled HTML help (CHM) documents. Key features enabled include asking questions, contributing to discussions, earning points, flagging comments, rating help topics and comments, bookmarking, and liking/tweeting from within help documents. Implementation involves inserting Iora's code into authoring tool project templates. Reports provide insights into user demographics and topic usage.
2. CHM users are no longer isolated.
A little-known tool enables them to:
– Ask questions
– Contribute to discussions
– Earn points for contributing
– Flag inappropriate comments
– Rate comments
– Rate help topics (1 to 5 stars)
– Create bookmarks
– “Like” & Tweet
... from inside the help!
Technology from Iora Technologies allows TechComm to
move forward with CHM!
CHM is no longer a dead end
3. Users bookmark
their favorite topics
and rate them.
Low contribution
barrier – use
existing identity
(Facebook, Google,
Yahoo) or Guest
Multi-threaded
real-time nested
comments.
Users earn points for contributing (if enabled).
Users can flag inappropriate comments (if enabled).
Like & Tweet
buttons available.
4. If you are a moderator, the
Moderate button is visible
5. Choose which features to use
Each Iora account
is managed
separately – can
have different
settings,
moderators, etc.
6. Set up moderators and notification
Each super user selects when to
receive email notification
7. Email notification is optional.
Tip: Extremely useful for review purposes!
Sample email notification:
9. Manage account data
Turn off tracking your own computer,
so that your own access is not
included in the statistics
Delete data any time (for
example after a review iteration)
10. Save to CSVReports (“Insights”)
(ReadSoft doesn’t use
ranking or voting)
11. Geographical distribution of users
Lots of
useful
reports...
... such as this one,
which made us aware
that our software was
being used in a
country where we
hadn’t sold it!
12. This tells us
which help
topics our
users go to
most – and
which area of
our software
needs to be
more intuitive.

Easy to implement
16. Others have found innovative ways of using Iora. Examples:
Open discussion: Let users post their opinions and have discussions
& conversations.
Contributions: Let users add additional information relevant to page
content. Most of the users add additional information or connect
different bodies of content.
FAQ: Use as a means of adding information to help topics after
publication. Update content after shipment.
Support - Forums / Q&A website: One of Iora’s customers uses the
service to power user forum sites. They position the same as Q&A
websites.
Other creative uses of Iora
