5. Building FIBRE’s roadmap
7
• Technical Committe’s Short-term projects (Oct/2015 to Jan/2016)
• Identification of essential requirements
• E.g. Interoperability with other testbeds, reproducibility of experiments,
extensibility, unique control software etc.

6. • A plataform for experimentation and education on
computer networks, built on top of FIBRE’s project legacy
infrastructure and operated as a service for the academic
community.
Main results expected/achieved
The principal assets that will last
as a legacy for future uptake;
• Vision: A testbed service, integrated to major testbed
infrastructures worldwide, operated by the Brazilian NREN
7. • Data protection is key to attract industry to use the testbed
(concern about industrial espionage) > Need to improve
data policies
• Data flows are isolated from other testbed users
• Portability of data (experiment setup and results) is listed as
one of the main requirements
How the project ... cross-border demonstrations
will address ... personal data protection, flows of
data, portability of data, etc
8. • Deploy OMF6 as the new control software
• Produce new training material for operators and users
• Promote actions to train professors to use the testbed in the
classroom
• Installation of new islands (support to FUTEBOL´s members)
• Rethinking the testbed hardware arquitecture
• Ideas of creating thematic islands for experimentation with:
wireless resources, IoT sensors, programmable network
components and… cloud computing infrastructures.
