Introduction:
Immunisation information systems
• Strong information systems are an integral part of a
well-functioning vaccine programme. This is
recognised by the WHO EVAP and further endorsed by
the 2014 EU Council Conclusions on vaccination.
• ECDC conducted two surveys on EU/EEA immunisation
information systems (IIS):
– a comprehensive survey for countries with an established
IIS; and
– a shorter survey for countries in the early stages of
implementation.
• The results provide information on the status of IIS in
the EU/EEA countries and describe the functionalities
of these systems.
• This information is particularly important for those
countries that have no system, are in the beginning
stages of implementation, or are updating their
systems.
