Hey Dyer,
Tree Facts:
As trees age, they become more valuable. Trees
create oxygen, reduce noise pollution, provide shade and
habitat and intercept storm water. They are also known to
lower air conditioning costs by 30%, and they
intercept dust, ash & smoke.
As we gear up for another exciting summer
season we thank you again for all your
continued support of the Dyer Parks and
Recreation Department. This summer we once
again have many fulfilling recreational offerings
for all ages. Our great youth summer camps at
Elmer Miller Park are back again and we have
teamed up with Skyhawks Sports Instruction to
bring you NEW youth sport programs!
In the parks, we have moved forward with
park upgrades for Elmer Miller Park, Sheffield
Estates and now Veterans Park. All three parks
are scheduled to get new playgrounds and
walking paths. Additionally, Hearthstone and
Eberly Parks are currently being developed
with work schedule to be started this year. At
Central Park, the three ball fields will be getting
a makeover to allow for better recreational use.
As these projects happen this summer, please
let us know what you think. We are excited to
see what the future holds for Dyer.
Almost forgot, ladies June 22 is the 4th Annual
Chicks Fun Walk/Run! Don’t forget to sign up
with your mother, daughter, girlfriend, sister,
neighbor or office girls and have a wonderful
time.
Thank you again for your continued support
and remember to take time for recreation.
Have a wonderful summer.
See you all in the parks!

Living Tree & Park Bench Memorials
Help improve the quality of life and the environment by having
a tree planted in one of your Dyer Parks to remember or honor

Recreation will determine the exact location. Trees are planted
each fall.
Park Bench Memorials are also available. For a donation of $750
we will install a park bench with a plaque on the seat back
of the bench in a park of your choice. Exact locations will be
determined by staff but suggestions are welcome. For more
information on either program contact Dyer Parks & Recreation

BaseballTots (2 & 3 yr. old boys & girls)
Baseball Tots is a development program that uses a variety of fun games to
engage kids while teaching the sport of baseball and developing fundamental
skills. The goal is to build fitness, muscle coordination, baseball fundamentals
and create a love of the game.
SoccerTots (18mon - 3 yr. old boys & girls)
SoccerTots is our flagship program! Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-
themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger
age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes
focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce
an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to
maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun!Ages: 2 & 3 yrs. old

Beginner Golf
(Ages 7 - 12 yrs. old)
Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes by teaching
proper technique to refine essential skills of the game. Golf is a challenging and
lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form,
swinging, putting, and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has
adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes
a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers, including oversized plastic
club heads and “mini tennis balls” to help build confidence and to have fun.
Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level
player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and

equipment is provided. Participants should wear appropriate clothing, two

Parkour is widely accepted as a method of training for the safest, quickest,
and most efficient routing from one point to another. Participants will train in
order to be as fluid, functional and liberated as possible in physical movement
and to overcome physical obstacles. Our program will focus on specific
elements of obstacle course training. Our younger classes are developed to
safely get children moving and exploring the very new world around them,
to inherently build confidence in each step and define their most formative
years with a strong base of control. Our classes will consist of two major
components: conditioning and drilling which include climbing, jumping, and
vaulting while maintaining a fun and challenging atmosphere.

a few activities to try. This workshop is best for parents and caregivers of kids
ages 5 and under.

reasons why babies aren’t sleeping well. It will also share some strategies and
tricks to try. This workshop is best for parents and caregivers with children under
the age of 24 months. All children’s ages welcome but we will focus on setting up
the routine and schedule in the early ages.
Grandparents - (New grandparents/new caregivers) - Congratulations on your
new bundle of joy! Come learn what is new in baby care! You will be surprised at
all the new rules and how different they are from when you raised your babies.

with your new grandbaby and his/her parents. This workshop is best for any new
grandparents.
Clean Living - (18 & older) - Do you want to rid your body and home of chemicals
and toxins that might be making you sick? In this workshop we will learn

The Kritters were a very successful
rock band during the late 60’s and
70’s. Recently they have performed
at The Blueberry fest (Plymouth In)
and The Lake County Fair. They
recreate songs from the 60’s & 70’s
and they play them the way they
originally sounded.
Breaking Dawn is fronted by the
Power house vocals of Nekole Muha
and backed by some of the regions
best musicians! This band plays any-

Everyone LOVES the StingRays Rock &
Roll, from Rockabilly – tons of Sixties – to
the 70’s. Their music, great rapport with
audiences and look & moves, have
made them festival favorites throughout
the Midwest – filling dance floors (and
lawns) the entire night.
Born and raised in the Chicago region. Jack
developed an interest in music early on
and has since created a lot of varied music
(indie rock to metal). His musical inspira-
tions and interests are broad and deep but
a roots music influence is always present.
From Chicago blues to Memphis soul to
Americana. He also loves Funk, Folk, and
old religious tunes. Finger picking, sliding,
and shouting, a passionate performer.

As we gear up for another exciting summer season we thank you again for all your continued support of the Dyer Parks and Recreation Department. This summer we once again have many fulfilling recreational offerings for all ages. Our great youth summer camps at Elmer Miller Park are back again and we have teamed up with Skyhawks Sports Instruction to bring you NEW youth sport programs! In the parks, we have moved forward with park upgrades for Elmer Miller Park, Sheffield Estates and now Veterans Park. All three parks are scheduled to get new playgrounds and walking paths. Additionally, Hearthstone and Eberly Parks are currently being developed with work schedule to be started this year. At Central Park, the three ball fields will be getting a makeover to allow for better recreational use. As these projects happen this summer, please let us know what you think. We are excited to see what the future holds for Dyer. Almost forgot, ladies June 22 is the 4th Annual Chicks Fun Walk/Run! Don’t forget to sign up with your mother, daughter, girlfriend, sister, neighbor or office girls and have a wonderful time. Thank you again for your continued support and remember to take time for recreation. Have a wonderful summer. See you all in the parks!
