In this tough economy, your engineer leadership team is your competitive advantage. When I speak in public, or conduct a training workshop, or a coaching session, I often humorously state that although I began my career as an engineer, I have since evolved as a human being and now I am in the people business. Many of my clients chuckle, especially my engineer clients, as the general population typically perceives our engineer brethren as NOT being in the people business, and NOT being great leaders of people. And perhaps many of my clients have heard the one-to-many “engineer jokes” which decry our engineer brethren’s interpersonal skills!
