Neurological Emergencies: Case Studies in Critical DiagnosesThe approach to
neurological emergencies often seems daunting to non-neurologists. But as the
population ages, these conditions will be seen with increasing frequency. Compared to
some other areas in medicine, the neurological differential diagnosis, physical
examination and imaging strategies seems (and often is) more complicated. As well,
newer data have greatly impacted the field as the evidence base expands. At the same
time, at many locales, on-site, real time neurological consultation may not be rapidly
available. For all of these reasons, non-neurologists need to be able to handle, or at a
minimum, strategize the acute management issues in patients with neurological
emergencies. Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education, Harvard
Medical School, Cambridge, MA, 2010.
Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology: Module 1: Advanced Topics: the Fundamental

California, 20011.
Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology: Module 4: “Essentials of documentation and
records keeping; what you need vs. what you don't. Medical photography; when and how
to use it and incorporate it Taking the pain out of depositions, arbitrations, and testifying
in court .Preparing for the classic cross-examination strategies. Using evidence
effectively; models, charts, diagrams, photos, movies, and more Daubert and Frye rules;
how they affect your testimony and how they can exclude opposing experts Disabusing
the MIST myth; Colossus Learned treatises and reliable authorities; other federal rules of
evidence experts should know“. Spine Research Institute of San Diego, Los Angeles
Chiropractic College, Southern California University of Health Sciences, California,
2010.
Clinical Challenges in Chest Radiology “X-Ray, CT, high resolution CT, MRI and PET
and other radiographic imaging interpretation, physiology and clinical indications for
thoracic disorders such as pulmonary embolism and the solitary pulmonary nodule as
well as other common radiographic abnormalities.”, Harvard Medical School Department
of Continuing Education, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, MA, 2010.
Assessing Medical Fitness to Return to Work “ Primary Care physicians are often
requested to provide information on a patient’s fitness to return to work following injury
or illness. U.S. primary care physicians report that they are requested to provide opinions
regarding work ability or "fitness for duty," on average, in up to 10% of all office visits.
However, very little training is routinely offered in medical or postgraduate education
pertaining to the health effects of work and assessing work readiness. Both generalists
and specialists report that dealing with sickness certification and work ability can be
problematic, including potential conflict of interest between their best medical judgment
and what their patients desire. Education in a structured approach to fitness to work
assessment method can enhance physicians’ knowledge about work fitness assessments
as well as their confidence in performing assessments“. Harvard Medical School
Department of Continuing Education, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, MA, 2010.
Nutritional Neurology. Dan Murphy.“The effects of excitotoxins , food additives and
neurodegenerative disease processes. The influence of essential fatty acids on pain, joint
degeneration, and brain structure/function.The relationship of ratios between omega-6
and omega-3 essential fatty acids. The anti-oxidant network and pathoneurology. Identify
the impacts of nutrition on pathoneurology, cardiovascular function, and immune
response. Learn additional research insights on chiropractic clinical management of
trauma, pain, degeneration, and mobility. Identify focused case management approaches
including the neurological components of care. Review new concerns on
neurophysiological impacts involving cell membrane fluidity and cell membrane
stiffness.” Greensboro NC. 2010.
Neck Pain, CVA, and Treatment of the Cervical Spine. Dr. Savoie, a featured NCMIC
speaker, will review the common conditions presenting as neck pain. His program
includes the latest research on CVA, the elements of the case history, cervical
examination procedures and clinical findings in the treatment and management of neck
pain. Greensboro North Carolina 2011.
BASIC MRI PART 1 - "Although a detailed understanding of nuclear physics is not
necessary to interpret MRI studies, Chiropractors should have a solid understanding of
the basic principles involved in producing MRI images. This course describes the basic
fundamental principles shared by all MRI scanners." Instructor Guy Annunziata, DC. DC
Hours. December 2012.
BASIC MRI PART 2 - "The second part to this series will begin with a discussion
regarding the multiplanar images of MRI, the shades of gray and the differences between
T1 and T2 weighted images. We will then explore the special MRI studies that have been
created to help identify different pathologies. This will include discussions on Fat
Suppression, Contrast Enhanced and Functional MRI studies." Instructor Guy
Annunziata, DC. DC Hours. December 2012.
BASIC MRI PART 3 - "In the third part of this series we will discuss the
Contraindications to MRI, how to read an MRI report, the MRI appearance of DDD,
Ligamentum Flavum Hypertrophy, Disc Herniations, Annular Tears and Post-disc
Surgical cases." Instructor Guy Annunziata, DC. DC Hours. December 2012.
ACUTE LOW BACK PAIN- "This course will help physicians manage acute episodes of
back pain. The content provides simple tools to use to help influence patient recovery. By
reviewing lifestyle factors that influence back pain, the course enables physicians to
provide advice and recommendations that will allow patients to recover from their acute
back pain episode and to make informed decisions about their behaviors and lifestyle
factors related to back pain." Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing
Education, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, MA, 2012.
Cervicogenic Headache- This course reviews the clinical presentation of cervicogenic
headache, proposed diagnostic criteria, pathophysiologic mechanisms, and methods of

National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Atlanta, GA 2007 SELECTED POST GRADUATE EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS Neurological Emergencies: Case Studies in Critical DiagnosesThe approach to neurological emergencies often seems daunting to non-neurologists. But as the population ages, these conditions will be seen with increasing frequency. Compared to some other areas in medicine, the neurological differential diagnosis, physical examination and imaging strategies seems (and often is) more complicated. As well, newer data have greatly impacted the field as the evidence base expands. At the same time, at many locales, on-site, real time neurological consultation may not be rapidly available. For all of these reasons, non-neurologists need to be able to handle, or at a minimum, strategize the acute management issues in patients with neurological emergencies. Assessing Medical Fitness to Return to Work “ Primary Care physicians are often requested to provide information on a patient’s fitness to return to work following injury or illness. U.S. primary care physicians report that they are requested to provide opinions regarding work ability or "fitness for duty," on average, in up to 10% of all office visits. However, very little training is routinely offered in medical or postgraduate education pertaining to the health effects of work and assessing work readiness. Both generalists and specialists report that dealing with sickness certification and work ability can be problematic, including potential conflict of interest between their best medical judgment and what their patients desire. Education in a structured approach to fitness to work assessment method can enhance physicians’ knowledge about work fitness assessments as well as their confidence in performing assessments“. Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, MA, 2010.
