2. What is EyeWhat is Eye
The human eye is a sense
organ which reacts to light
and pressure allows vision help provide a
3D, moving image, normally coloured in
daylight.
It is fused two piece unit having retina,
lens, pupil, etc.; the camera photography
is in fact an idea copy of eye!

“Sarve indriya
nayanam pradhanam”–
Accordig to Ayurveda among the
special senses, the organ of eye
has been considered foremost.
Ayurveda is the mother of all medical science,
it originate in India.
It is the knowledge of Life scripted thousand
years back. Sushruta was the first surgeon
recorded in history.
Since Vedic period eye care has received great
attention by our seers.

Dietary factors(Ahaar):
Too much of sour, over
cooked-fried items.
Incompatible or virudh ahaar eg.cooled
and boiled items together (etc.) (These
factors result indigestion and affects
normal function)

5. Habitual & occupational factors:
Hot water head bath, day sleep, night
awakening, smoking, suppression of
urges, looking at too small or too distant
objects, watching moving objects or
reading in the moving vehicle, reading in
wrong positions/postures

6. Exogenic factors (Agantuja nidaan):
Air pollution-smoke dust irritates eyes,
light pollution – unscientific illumination,
burn – using strong chemicals such as
acids, alkalis, etc destroy the eye cells.
Structural deformities - internal problems.
(report to Doctor - Opthalmologist,
Ayurveda physician may opine in cases)

Read proper distance in proper light
Don’t stare at strong light.
Don’t use mobiles, laptops in dark room.
Do not touch or rub your
eye unnecessarily.
Look at greenery, nature.
Splash water in eyes regularly.
Wear preventive eyeglasses, helmets
during ride as protection from dust, etc.
Take proper food & care.

Have cereals like wheat, barley
Pulses like mudga, soya bean
Vegetables like spinach, gajara, coriander,
radish, drumstick
Fruits like amla, draksha
Cow ghee, Nariyal tel
Milk, Honey, Jaggery
Commonly used Ayurveda herbs:
Amlaki (Emblica officinalis), Yashti madhu
(Glycyrrhiza glabra), Nisha (Curcuma
longa), Kapoor (Cinnamomum camphora),
etc.

After awakening early in morning, fill the
mouth and wash the eyes with normal
water. One can do ‘netra prakshalana’ or
wash with triphala water. (10g of Triphala
with 200mll of clean water, kept overnight
and filter before use)
Palming or ‘panitala sparsana’ as
in Ayurveda is keeping rubbed
hands or washed hands after
meal palmed over eyes.

12. This are done under supervision of Vaidya
Medicated anjana helps in protecting eye
from dust, infection…
Massage of foot with til tail or ghee is
good for vision as per Ayurveda.
Procedures like seka, prakshalana, pindi,
Netra-Tarpana are special Ayurveda
Panchakarma processes;
