Worked as a Sub-Contractor for the IBM SAN/STORAGE US Team from home office remotely.
Hardware consisted of EMC VMAX, IBM XIV, IBM V7K, IBM SVC, CISCO SWITCHES.
Project assignment was to migrate over 1,500 servers from EMC VMAX frames to IBM XIV frames.
Project included coordinating migration of servers attached to 3 EMC VMAX frames by other US and
GR (India) team members after hours during the weekend after allocations on XIV frames were
completed. Movement of data from VMAX to XIV was both server based and XIV Migrations Tools.
Main assignment was to create designs to cleanup servers from the VMAX frames once the server
was successfully migrated to XIV storage. Included in designs were removal/cleanup of Clone devices,
Snap VDEV devices used for backups, SRDF/A replication to remote VMAX used for disaster recovery
and removal of zoning.
Coordinated with EMC on VMAX storage frame decommissions, removal from floor and data erasure
of all customer data.
Completed XIV allocations as needed to meet customer deadlines.

Worked for the SAN/STORAGE US Team from home office remotely.
Hardware consisted of VMAX, DMX, CLARIION and CISCO SWITCHES.
Coordinated with EMC on storage frame expansions and micro-code upgrades on DMX and VMAX
frames. Developed run plans for each.
Worked with CISCO switches for server zoning in a VSAN environment.
Allocated storage for servers attached to CLARIION frames including creating devices, Storage
Groups and SNAPSHOTS for backups. Masked and mapped same. Coordinated import/deport test of
SNAPSHOT devices attached to backup servers on a per server basis with Server Administrators.
Created allocation spreadsheets for System Administrators.
Allocated storage on servers attached to DMX frames including creation of devices, zoning, mapping
and masking of servers. Device offsets when needed. Created BCV devices attached to backup
servers and did import/deport test for backup verification. Added devices to Disk Groups. If Disaster
Recovery involved, created R1/R2 and remote BCV devices for replication to remote frames. Also

included APP BCV devices if needed and tested same with server System Administrators. Created
allocation spreadsheets for server administrators.
Allocated storage on servers attached to VMAX frames including creation of devices, zoning, masking
and mapping of servers. Included creation of Storage Groups (SG's), Initiator Groups (IG's), or if
clustered, Cluster Initiator Groups (CIG's), Port Groups (PG's) and VIEWS. Utilized Thin Devices, also
known as virtual provisioning devices (TDEV's), Virtual Devices (VDEV's) for backups, and APP
CLONE devices if needed. Also created R1/R2/Remote CLONE devices for Disaster Recovery
purposes to remote frames. Coordinated import/deport test of VDEV's for backup purposes with server
administrators. Assigned devices to Disk Groups. Bound TDEV's to either FIBRE or SATA Storage
Pools as designed.
One of 3 people assigned to add/remove R1/R2/Remote Clone devices to/from SRDF/A Consistency
Groups.
Major assignment to SAN Refresh project (migrations) from CLARIION and DMX frames to VMAX.
Utilized SANCOPY when needed to accomplish this. Coordinated decommissioning of CLARIION and
DMX frames. ( 7 CLARIION frames, 8 local DMX frames and 2 remote DMX frames) after migrations
were completed to VMAX frames. Implementer on cleaning up and removing servers from CLARIION
and DMX frames per designs.
SAN Refresh Project. Became the only person doing step by step designing of server cleanups from
DMX and CLARIION frames. Ran individual scripts to produce command output files for deletion,
unmasking, un-mapping, removal from Disk Groups and deletion of Disk Groups and devices. After
design was completed, assigned to 1 of 5 implementers.
Step 2 of SAN Refresh Project was migration of servers from VMAX's to XIV and V7000 storage.
Designed step by step instructions for cleaning up of servers from VMAX's after migrating was
completed. Included removal of VIEWS, devices from SG's, SG's and removal of IG's or CIG's.
Designs also included step by step instruction for removal from SRDF/A and Consistency Groups. Also
included removal and destruction of VDEV's and unbinding of TDEV devices from Storage Pools.
Included in designs were the removal of the correct zones for servers.
Utilized Remedy for creation of CRQ's (Change Requests), and INC's ( Incident Management).
Participated in daily SAN Refresh meetings and also was a member of the Peer Review team to
review all changes taking place.
Servers included Windows, Unix and ESX/VMWARE.
Assisted other team members with technical issues, questions and procedural issues.
Rotated with other team members in 24x7 On-Call rotation. I had two On-Call duties. US On-Call for all
SAN/Storage issues and was one of four personnel for SRDF/A replication On-Call duties.
10/2006 – 2/2010 JMA - Contractor

Title: SAN/EMC/VERITAS NETBACKUP STORAGE CONSULTANT
Responsible for all SAN, EMC Storage and NetBackup environments in St. Louis and across the NITC
SMB area that includes DMX2000, DMX3000 and DMX4000 arrays along with Clariion CX700 arrays
with both Brocade Departmental and Director Class switches. Limited exposure to NetApp, VTL and
XIV.
One of two Key Personnel assigned to relocate entire 1520 Market Datacenter to the Government
complex at 4300 Goodfellow. Entire relocation was accomplished over one weekend.
Handled all VERITAS Netbackup procedures and backup polices, setting up Master, Media, SAN-
Media and clients servers.
Setup, configured and managed Sun/STK L700e and SL8500 Tape Libraries.

Managed over 2,100 disk storage attached servers and over 5,000 Netbackup clients. Included local
and remote servers spread across 5 cities.
Was able to telecommute to support all cities from remote office at my residence and provide 24x7
support.
Setup, configure and manage all Brocade SAN switches.
Maintained EMC Control Center Console and Software, Navisphere Off-Array Manager, and
SanVergance software to manage Nishan IPS3300 switches used for replication between cities.
Troubleshot all parts of the SAN including OS issues. OS’s include AIX, Solaris Linux, VMware, HPUX
and Windows.
Installed and configured all software required.
Responsible for setup of Replication scripts, Netbackup Cold Oracle Database scripts and Informix
On-Line Database scripts and testing of same.
Loaded all code and firmware required for all the SAN equipment.

Primary responsibilities were to finish the implementation and support of the Customer Service System
(CSS), from a mainframe environment to a MC/Service Guard clustered environment using HP V2600
and V2500 servers; the system handles Ameren’s’ entire Customer Billing, Gas Meter Reading, and
Customer Call Center activity.
Planned, implemented, and supported the installation of a new SAN environment for all of Ameren
Services.
This was a switched fabric environment using EMC’s Connectrix product utilizing 4-32 port Connectrix
switches (McData), and 2-16 port Brocade Silkworm switches. An IBM Mainframe was also connected
using ESCONchannels.
EMC frames included Symmetrix series 8730 (20TB), 8530 (14TB) and 3930 (8TB).
Installed and configured and EMC Clariion CX600 series array.
Symmetrix series arrays were in an M1/M2 (Raid 1) configuration and the Clariion was setup as a Raid
5 configuration.
All servers and FA’s to storage arrays were zoned and had full redundancy to avoid a single point of
failure.
Installed and utilized EMC Control Center 5.1.
Installed all software and agents onto all of the above mentioned platforms and assisted in configuring
any system files requiring changes to support the EMC drives and SAN environment.

Kept administrators advised of new HBA drivers and firmware changes as needed.
Configured BCV’s (Business Continuity Volumes) to support quick recovery of the Customer Service
System.
Wrote scripts to take production snapshots twice a day on the production server.
Set up a second set of BCV’s that ran weekly to create a snapshot of the CSS production database
that was then mounted to the Support and Development server.

Installed a Stratus Model 620 Continuum running FTX (Stratus’s UNIX) for claims adjudication
processing and carrier access for our Canadian office.
In March of 1998, converted this system to a Stratus 428 running HP-UX.
Managed entire EMC SAN environment.

Managed backups of all UNIX platforms, NT and Novell servers using OmniBack and DLT Tape
backup subsystems.
Managed the Data Warehouse which consisted of HP K and V class -series using EMC disks arrays

Installed and managed CheckPoint 1 firewall and set up all rules associated with internet, intranet and
DMZ areas of the firewall architecture. This included a public Web server, 3 ftp servers and 1 intranet
server.
