Variety can help students stay engaged. Changing who students sit next to or work with, the type of lessons and the teaching method; we keep them from becoming bored. Continuing to offer new ways of doing things and different ways of doing things can help students stay excited.
Projects allow for active involvement and collaboration with peers. Students can be motivated by working on assignments that have meaning to them personally. Students have great imaginations and vision; it is important that we give them the chance to be creative so we can encourage them to become innovative.
Collaborating with others is important for students to learn because this is a life skill everyone will need. Student will need to learn to work with others, work through disagreement, and rely on others. Students have a longing to belong. Collaboration can give the opportunity for students to feel like they are part of something. Collaboration also allows for students to socialize appropriately learn what times socializing is appropriate.
Expecting students to reach goals or desired behaviors will communicate to them that you believe in them and will hold them accountable. This will give students the confidence to work toward your expectations. Teachers will usually get what ever they expect from a student. If they expect bad behavior, that is what they will get, if they expect students to finish their homework then that is what they will get.
