 The part of the vein in front of the first part of
axillary artery may be compressed by the
subclavius muscle during abduction.This may
account for the axillary vein thrombosis when
the arm is held in prolonged abduction above
the head during painting of a ceiling.
 Occasionally, a muscular band known as axillary
arch extends from the latissimus dorsi to the
pectoralis major and compresses upon axillary
vessels, causing venous thrombosis.
