  2. 2. We live in a technology-driven world. We depend on computers, laptops, mobile devices, and other technology to make us function faster, smarter, and more efficiently. Today, most people look toward mobile apps as a helpful tool to run both their personal and professional lives more smoothly.
  3. 3. Digital Media got you down? You are not alone. It can be extremely overwhelming when sorting through the various mobile app options that are available. We want to share 6 points that you should take into consideration before downloading your next app.
  4. 4. 1. Your Objective First, ask yourself: What am I trying to accomplish? How will this help improve my productivity? After answering those preliminary questions, you will have a better handle on what you really need the app for.
  5. 5. 2. Accessibility Mobile apps have an “online” and “offline” capability setting. Is it important for you to access the app’s content 24/7 or do you want to save on your data plan and only use it with wi-fi? What type of phone do you have? Is it Apple, Android, or Windows? This is a major factor into what apps are available to you.
  6. 6. 3. Information Two essential elements that you will most likely want in your mobile app: relevant content and ease of use. How easy is it to navigate through the app? Will the information be useful to me? If your answer to any of the above is “no,” then you may need to go back to the drawing board to get a clearer picture of what you’re trying to accomplish.
  7. 7. 4. Flexibility As we know, the ability to adapt and keep up with the ever-changing digital landscape is a critical component to our daily lives. And guess what? The same applies to a mobile app. In today’s world, it’s important to have proactive communication. This especially applies to any app you would download. Is the app staying up-to-date in terms of functionality, bug fixes, and how changes are communicated?
  8. 8. 5. Interactivity Does this mobile app make it easy for you to share? Whether that’s sharing feedback, sharing the app with friends, or sharing the information within the app...decide if an interactive social element is important to you.
  9. 9. 6. Mobile First Mentality Remember, you typically use your mobile phone when you’re on-the-go and only have time for a quick burst of information. An app that provides short, concise bytes of information with less pages, scrolling, and load time will make for a very happy user-experience.
