5G needs fiber to cope with the tremendous data traffic increase
- Huge backhauling needs
- A limited overlap between fiber and 5G in specific geographical areas
- Rather complementary access technologies
5G access network: how many new cell sites?
- x2 – x3?
- Probably enough capacity with 700 MHz and 3.4-3.8 GHz bands in Europe until 2022-2023
- Use of mmWave bands for capacity first
5G CAPEX needs
