FROM THE VALUE OF FIRST AID ARTICLE
No one wants to think about accidents and emergencies, but they do
happen. According to CDC.gov, unintentional falls, cuts, motor vehicle
accidents, burns, and unintentional incidents being struck by an object
make up some of the top causes of nonfatal injuries in the U.S.
Wildfires scorched a larger portion of California in 2018 than any other
fire in history, reports The New York Times, and Mother Nature seems
to be growing more unpredictable. Since no one can really predict
when an accident will occur, the only solution lies in preparation, and
knowing how a first aid kit could save your life makes all the difference.
First aid is an invaluable set of life-saving skills and techniques that can help people survive
emergencies until help arrives. Although society has grown accustomed to 24/7 emergency
access via smartphones and modern technology, it is not always possible to get help from
emergency medical services as quickly as necessary. A minor fall can become a tragedy to
those with pre-existing medical conditions; blood loss can lead to shock and cardiac arrest,
and even a fun day at the water park can turn dark. Check around your community and call
the Fire Dept and see there are any free or discounted First Aid & CPR classes nearby.
The opportunities for accidents and need for first aid exist in every layer of society and all
locations. Preparing for the uncertain means preparing to handle these emergencies, so the
importance of first aid is undisputed. Consider getting First aid & CPR Certified LINK HERE

MEDICAL NEEDS
We’re all getting older and the need for good medical advice has never been more necessary. Do
you have special prescriptions that need immediate filling? Make sure you ALWAYS have at least 2
weeks’ supply of everything needed to be OK on your own.
REPLENISHING DEPLETED FIRST AID SUPPLIES
Two times a year, at conference or when the time changes, check on your first aid kits and 2-week
2. supply kits to see what needs to be replenished.
IF YOU CAN DO TWO THINGS THIS MONTH, get your first aid kit in order; print out attached first
aid kit supply list and cater it to your family needs, and work on getting a first aid supply for your home
(more extensive) and one for each car (simple).
IF YOU ONLY DO ONE THING THIS MONTH, get 2 weeks of stored water that is portable and can
be used when the utilities are interrupted. Don’t count your water heater or 55 gallon drums of water.
The old guidelines say to store 1-gallon per person per day. That’s 14 gallons per person! Today’s
minimum guideline is 2-gallon per person per day. It’s your life, you decide. It’s a lot of water, I
know. The average American shower uses 17.2 gallons─ you try living for 2-weeks on one
shower amount of water!
Do you really think you can wait until the emergency arrives to get prepared? When the
emergency happens, the time to prepare is over.
I recently toured a senior assisted living facility. Each resident has an emergency button and
string to pull in their bathroom and residence. The person giving the tour explained that when
even the smallest emergency such as the power goes out, without fail, the majority of
residences will pull their “emergency” button. Now back at the main office, there is a control
board with all the room numbers and a corresponding light but the office worker said, “during
an emergency it is almost impossible to help those that actually need help because of all the
residences asking for assistance at the same time.” I’m sure that is how the 911 response
works. The quickest response to your personal emergency will be from your own family and
neighbors. Be prepared to not have the local emergency services available. After a
widespread emergency, the Fire Department and Police’s first priority is to assess the
damage, help hospitals first and not respond to individuals until they are able to. I’ve been
told this could take days or weeks if The Big One hits.
Behold, mine house is a house of a order, saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion. Will I
a accept of an offering, saith the Lord, that is not made in my name? Or will I receive at your hands that
which I have not a appointed ?
