The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is one of the
agencies that offered S & T Undergraduate and graduate
scholarship for students. In my opinion, the implementation of
scholarships for undergraduate and graduate programs in the field
of science and technology allowed talented students to pursue a
career in science and technology. These scholarships ensures that
there would be a steady and adequate supply of S&T human
resources that can help the country towards a national progress of
the field in the future.

The establishment of National Centers for Excellence in the basic
sciences is under the Executive Order No. 889, where this
constitution mandates that the advancement of science and
technology has priority in the national development. WHEREAS,
the efforts to apply science and technology in the service of our
people require complementary initiatives in the generation of
technology, in technology transfer and diffusion, and in
technology utilization and commercialization. Whereas, all these
efforts presuppose the availability of highly trained manpower to
lead and direct scientific and technological activities in private
industry, in government and in academe

The implementation of the manpower and institutional development
programs will strongly improve and develop human resources in
science and technology fields in the Philippines. These programs can
also involve the economic development of the country as part of the
nation building. The goal of the Engineering and Science Education
Program (ESEP), which is to produce more Phd graduates in S&T will
help in the increased number of graduate-level engineers in the field
of Science and Technology. It will help in educating and training new
scientists and engineers in order to strengthen the field and
encourage the development of manpower and industries.

The establishment of regional centers for supporting specific
industries is a beneficial way of leading the countries to have
broaden the research and development area in the Philippines.
However, these regional centers for supporting specific industries
should be closely linked with the S&T center of excellence, which
focuses on the development of the nation in relation to scientific
and technological development. The link of regional centers and
centers of excellence will lead the country to have a more profound
research and development.

The organization of special science classes and special science
elementary schools in different regions is a great way of
establishing science education at an early stage especially in the
special science elementary schools. The special science classes will
help students to be exposed to advanced science and mathematics
instructions that can be developed starting from an early age. The
special science elementary schools are primed to be mainstreamed
to the science and Technology schools. This will help develop
children who have keen interest and exceptional abilities in Science
and Mathematics.

The K-12 STEM strand allows students to utilize their appropriate
skills and talents regarding science, innovative technologies,
research, and mathematics. STEM strand allows students to
connect to different disciplinary areas that will focus on the
integration of the strand. The usage of technology in the STEM
strand also encourages students to reorganize not just scientific
but mathematical ideas in various ways that will help them to
develop their understanding to their chosen field in the future.

The project that the Commission on higher education launched is the
Philippine-California Advanced Research Institutes, which aims to
mobilize knowledge for greater productivity and economic growth in
areas of information Infrastructure Development, which is the basic
underlying framework of an organization’s information resources
that involves both human and technological components.
