MEXICO CITY
It occupies one-tenth of the Basin of Mexico in central-south, which among others includes the Valley of Mexico where the original core and most of the city, in a territory that was part of the lake basin of Lake Texcoco. Being the wealthiest and most populated city in the country, the area falls within the Federal District comprises little more than eight million people in 2010, [8] and ranks second as a state, just behind the State of Mexico, which shares much of the metropolitan area.
