How The Sony Playstation
Changed Gaming Forever

Before the world was introduced to the first Sony PlayStation, it was
the tail-end of a gaming console war that pitted the two companies
that defeated the mighty Atari in the ‘80s. Nintendo and SEGA
started their rivalry with the 8-bit battle of Nintendo Entertainment
System and the SEGA Master System and progressed toward the
16-bit contest between the Super NES and SEGA Genesis.
However, things were to change soon enough.

Sony released the PlayStation, much to the awe of the gaming
public. It was 32-bit, and the gameplay and animation ran smoother
than any game on any previous console. The evolution from
cartridge to disc was the game changer as more information could
be stored, meaning full-motion videos could be incorporated into
games. This also meant that games would be and feel exponentially
bigger than before.

Gamers were treated to open worlds that were 3D, giving game
exploration a whole new meaning. Video game giants such as
Capcom, Konami, Squaresoft, and Namco all shared their flagship
games as well as new innovative titles with Sony and created a
myriad of experiences in gaming that set the standard for decades to
come.
The gaming experience gamers feel now owe it all to that very first
PlayStation, the console that revolutionized gaming.
