3. Established on 01/08/2063 BS(2006 AD) as the primary law
enforcement agency for Kathmandu valley.
The MPCO today is on the forefront of technological crime fighting
advances from highly developed advances in evidence analysis to
state-of the-art-information technology.
These modern techniques are combined with a contemporary
community policing philosophy(Police Public Partnership),
referred to as Policing for Prevention.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner is responsible and accountable
for all activities involving the Metropolitan Police Commissioner's
Office and establishes professional standards that maintain a high
level of integrity and ethical conduct.

16. Current Activities Conducted
Special Security Campaign in the Valley:- To strengthen
security situation activities like special checking, cordon and
search, Long Range Patrol, Cross Patrol, foot patrol, ambush,
specific area search and identification and control of absconded
perpetrators are conducted.
Police Public Partnership:- Development of public relation
and launching public awareness programs through Community
Police centers and interaction on security issues with
stakeholders.
Citizen Help Desk:- 88 units have been established in the
valley for easy access and assistance seeking police service.
17. Establishment of Racial Discrimination Surveillance Centre:-
Surveillance against Racial Discrimination and untouchablity.
Police Circle Crime Branch(PCCB):- Police Circle Crime
Branches (PCCB) have been established on 31 Jan.2012 as a chain
of Crime Division to upgrade and enhance capacity and
effectiveness of police circle.
Establishment of training Wing:- To enhance Professional skill
based trainings like Riot Control orientation, Law enforcement,
and Human Rights, Investigation of crime against women and
children and so on.

Grievance Handling:- To receive internal and external
Grievances and find out best solution.

Tourist Police:- To provide security and assistance for tourist.

19. Marshal Team:- Regular Monitoring, Supervision and
Inspection of police personnel and police Unit's service delivery.
Human Rights Cell:- Protection and promotion of Human
Rights.
Disciplinary Action:- Disciplinary action have been taken
against 212 police personnel for violating police code of conduct.
Installation of Solar energy as alternative power source:- To
manage Load Shedding led problem, Operation of Control
Room, a solar energy back up system has been installed which
can generate 4Kw energy.

checking in and out in hotels and temporary residents.
Introduction of mandatory Machine Readable Vehicle
Registration Plate – Avoid Fake VRP.
Discouraging illegal possession of arms and eliminating arms
involved crimes : Effective implementation of law and
increment in punishment.
Acquiring easy access to the Data Banks of Immigration office,
Road Traffic Management office and Telecommunication office.
Administrative and Magisterial power to Metropolitan Police.
