2. WARNING Back up all data before you beguine. Discharge static electricity by touching a metal surface.
3. Required Tools Clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Coin. Phillips #1 screwdriver. Stiff, plastic, nonmagnetic card (such as a library card)
4. Opening the Computer Shut down the computer. Wait 30 minutes for the computer to cool down. Unplug all external cables from the computer. Turn the computer over and place it on a soft cloth. Use a coin to release the battery latch. Turn the quarter clockwise to unlock the battery.
7. Removing the Hard Drive Loosen—but do not try to remove—the three captive screws along the RAM door.
8. Removing the Hard Drive 2 Holding the long end of the L-shaped RAM door, pivot it out from the battery bay. If necessary, use a library card to tilt the RAM door up. Be careful not to bend the RAM door.
10. Removing the Hard Drive 4 Pull the tab straight out to slide the drive out.
11. Removing the Hard Drive 5 Hold the drive only by the sides when removing and replacing it.
12. Replacing the Hard Drive Slide in the replacement hard drive, tuck the pull tab underneath the drive. Install the RAM door by first aligning the short end at the notch near the hard drive opening. Tuck in the EMI gaskets located on the RAM door Make sure the three screws align with the holes in the bottom case before tightening them.
13. Closing the Computer Replace the battery . Press and hold down the other end of the battery as you turn the coin to lock it into place.
14. Installing OS X Now your computer is ready to install the operating system. Put the OS X disk and follow the on screen instructions.
