Who would be the audience for
your media product?
After carrying out market research and analysis of existing
Hip-Hop magazines my partner and I were able to set a
targeted audience that we wanted to reach our magazine
to in order for us to create a publication which would
successfully sell and be a well recognized magazine by
consumers. This is why my partner and I agreed on
targeted the age ranged of 15- 24 years old.
During my market research phase I had
completed STA’S (Similar Text Analysis).
This was done to see what conventions
existing magazines use to then gather
what age range the publication is
targeted at.
This is because, we feel late teens and young adults are most
into Hip-Hop music and have an understanding of it, which is
why we have decided to predominantly aim our publication at
them. We also feel that those who are 15-24 years old who are
interested in Hip-Hop may also produce music or rap
themselves, which is why they would have an interest in
reading about new upcoming artists which would give them an
insight on how they came up from suffering and having the
odds stacked against them to rising and declaring there well
deserved fame.
15-24 year olds are also into reading magazines
and this is because it is a quick and easy read as
opposed to reading a book cover to cover. As a
result, if we can successfully market our
publication to this age range our magazine should
have no trouble in terms of sales, just as long as it
is what the consumer wants and needs. Teens/
young adults of this age range also tend to read or
watch things based upon the reviews that their
friends give, which is why if my publication
informs the audience as well as entertains them I
feel that they would pass on the word to friends
and relatives which would they increase the
recognition of ‘RE-LEASED’.
The reason why we have chose to not
target ages such as, 26-34 is because it is
a broad age range which consists of many
different interest and likes. This is why,
my partner and I have chose an age
range that share similar likes and
interest, which is why we feel that we
will be able to market our magazine
publication effectively. This is because I
feel that 26-34 year olds listen more to
charts/radio music or artists such as Ed
Sheeran and this is because Hip-Hop
incorporates slang, swear words and is
aimed predominantly for those who are
teens/young adults.

  • 1. Who would be the audience for your media product?
  • 2. After carrying out market research and analysis of existing Hip-Hop magazines my partner and I were able to set a targeted audience that we wanted to reach our magazine to in order for us to create a publication which would successfully sell and be a well recognized magazine by consumers. This is why my partner and I agreed on targeted the age ranged of 15- 24 years old. During my market research phase I had completed STA’S (Similar Text Analysis). This was done to see what conventions existing magazines use to then gather what age range the publication is targeted at.
  • 3. This is because, we feel late teens and young adults are most into Hip-Hop music and have an understanding of it, which is why we have decided to predominantly aim our publication at them. We also feel that those who are 15-24 years old who are interested in Hip-Hop may also produce music or rap themselves, which is why they would have an interest in reading about new upcoming artists which would give them an insight on how they came up from suffering and having the odds stacked against them to rising and declaring there well deserved fame.
  • 4. 15-24 year olds are also into reading magazines and this is because it is a quick and easy read as opposed to reading a book cover to cover. As a result, if we can successfully market our publication to this age range our magazine should have no trouble in terms of sales, just as long as it is what the consumer wants and needs. Teens/ young adults of this age range also tend to read or watch things based upon the reviews that their friends give, which is why if my publication informs the audience as well as entertains them I feel that they would pass on the word to friends and relatives which would they increase the recognition of ‘RE-LEASED’.
  • 5. The reason why we have chose to not target ages such as, 26-34 is because it is a broad age range which consists of many different interest and likes. This is why, my partner and I have chose an age range that share similar likes and interest, which is why we feel that we will be able to market our magazine publication effectively. This is because I feel that 26-34 year olds listen more to charts/radio music or artists such as Ed Sheeran and this is because Hip-Hop incorporates slang, swear words and is aimed predominantly for those who are teens/young adults.
