• The pedestrian sidewalk will remain on the south
side of Eglington Avenue East only.
• The traffic configuration will accommodate road
works on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East
between Brentcliffe Road and the east portal.
• Construction activities include:
• Wet utility installations
• Saw cutting and concrete removals
• Excavation
• Backfill
• Compaction
• Curb and sidewalk construction
• Asphalt and final paving
5. BRENTCLIFFE PORTAL TO LESLIE STREET

September 20, 2020 for two weeks
• The pedestrian sidewalk will remain on the south
side of Eglington Avenue East only.
• The traffic configuration will accommodate road
works on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East
west of Brencliffe Road and in the centre of Eglinton
Avenue, east of Brentcliffe Road.
• Construction activities include:
• Concrete removals
• Construction of new sidewalk and curbs
• Installation of new pavers
• Installation of new traffic lighting elements
• Asphalt and final paving
6. RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCTION

• This retaining wall is required to hold and stabilize
the embankment created from the newly widened
road.
• Construction is expected to begin early August
2020 for a period of 4 months.
• Construction activities will include:
• Excavation: Excavators, dump trucks and
loaders
• Hydrovacing
• Backfill and compaction: Loader and
vibratory roller/compactor
• Concrete works: concrete trucks and pumps
• Installation of concrete blocks with mobile
crane

• Crews will be removing three (3) trees near
the West Don River Bridge prior to the
construction of the new path.
• Archaeological assessment of section of
work zone on City property will take place
on September 9, 2020.
• Construction activities for path construction
include:
• Excavation
• Backfill
• Installation of topsoil
• Landscaping will take place in 2021 as part
of the final restoration plan.

• A working platform will be set up at the
bridge in advance of the activities.
• Crews will be removing rust, painting,
replacing structural steel elements and
performing concrete repairs.

chipping and other rehabilitation works.

11. CURRENT TRAFFIC CONFIGURATION – DECKING REMOVAL

Through to late September 2020
• Science Centre Station has advanced to a state to allow the
temporary traffic deck to be removed.
• The removal will take place in two stages, with the second
stage beginning early May 2020.
• The road will be restored to an improved surface.
• North south traffic will be reduced to two lanes and aligned
to the west side of Don Mills Road.
• Northbound, southbound and eastbound left turns will be
restricted.
Bus Detours:
• Route 34C diverting to Ferrand and Rochefort.

15. LATE NIGHT CONCRETE POURS

August 13, 2020 for approximately 6 weeks
• Late night concrete pours between Wynford Drive
and the East Don River Bridge, and between
Jonesville Crescent and Victoria Park Avenue.
• Pours will occur 2-3 times per week, starting as early
as Thursday August 13, 2020, for approximately six
(6) weeks between the hours of 10:00 p.m. – 3:00
a.m.
• Rolling lane closures on Eglinton Avenue East,
between Wynford Drive and Victoria Park Avenue.
• Traffic control personnel and/or a paid duty officer
will be present, while these works take place.
• The concrete will form the plinths that will support
the future tracks of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
16. O’CONNOR STOP SHELTER INSTALLATION
(NORTH AND SOUTH PLATFORMS)

• A crane will be installed within the guideway work zone to facilitate shelter installation.
• The structures will be delivered and lifted into place by the crane.
• Concrete works will also take place as part of shelter installation.
• Daily lane closures will be required at the work zone.
