Five OSU players and two high school commits were selected in the 2017
Major League Baseball (MLB) Amateur Draft. Among them was first
baseman KJ Harrison, who was drafted 84th overall by the Milwaukee
Brewers. Previously selected in the 25th round out of high school by the
Cleveland Indians, Harrison opted to go the college route and spent three
years at OSU, during which time he compiled a .302 batting average to go
along with 28 homeruns and 146 runs batted in (RBI).
Although he could have returned to OSU for one more season, Harrison
opted to sign with the Brewers on July 5 and was subsequently sent to the
Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League. Through 14 games in his first
professional season, Harrison has made 17 hits in 65 plate appearances.
