Aims: during this lesson , learners will be able to
- Develop their communicative skills talking about past activities..
-Recognize the correct use of affirmative and negative form in regular verbs when they talk about past actions.

Teaching approach:
I will use PPP ( PRESENTATION - PRACTICE- PRODUCTION), based in the Natural Approach, through it students are
encouraged to speak English in a natural way but it is integrated with a PPP APPROACH because students learn the topics in
a coherent context.

2. Seating arrangement:
Students will sit on their chairs, they will stand up to greet as every class and when they need to come to the
desk to ask something or to complete some exercise on the board.
Cooperative work
They will work in a cooperative way when they help their partners in the oral activity.
Assessment:
I will assess them during the class when they use the past simple in negative form. (only regular verbs)
Routine: 5’
Purpose:
-To greet students.
When I go into the classroom, students are sitting on their chairs, they stand up and we greet.
Me: “Hello, everybody, how are you today?
Students: “Hello, teacher, we are fine!
Me: Great, I´m fine too!
Transition: Wonderful, Let´s do the first activity!
Warm-up 10’:
- To get students into the mood of work.
- To revise some of the contents the students learnt in previous classes that help them to understand the
new teaching points.
Ok , well! Now we are going to work with the Romans and Egyptians information that we read last Thursday. T
will give Ss different sheets with some sentences about Romans or Egyptians and they will put them in the
correct column in a chart on the blackboard. There are three sentences that they aren´t correct for either
Romans or Egyptians. (T will use these sentences to introduce the past simple negative form.)
ROMANS EGYPTIANS
Sentences:
There weren´t bathrooms in their houses.
They decorated their houses´ gardens.
Only men and boys played games.
They liked bread and wine.
Their families watched sports at the Coliseum.
They washed their hands
Some rich people lived in a house with a
pool.
They washed in the river.
They loved insects. They washed their clothes with a washing machines.
They worked in factories.
3. Transition: Ok , fantastic! Now we are going to work with these three sentences!
“They worked in factories” - They invented the microwave” - They used washing machines.
Presentation (10’)
-To introduce the new teaching points.
- T will ask them: “ Did they use a washing machine?
- Probably S will say: “No”
-Then I will say “ They didn´t use a washing machine”
-T will ask them: “Did they work in factories?
-S: “No”
-T will say : “They didn´t work in factories”
-T : ”Did they love insects ?”
-S: “No”
-T will say: “They didn´t love insects”
- While they are saying “no” I will show students this phrase in the board “THEY DIDN´T WORK…”
- I will explain them that DIDN´T is NO in past , then I will write a sentence and its negative form and I will
encourage them to say the next two sentences:
1) They used a washing machine. They didn´t use a washing machine.
2) They loved insects. They didn´t love insects.
3) They worked in factories. They didn´t work in factories
Now T will say : Pay attention to the verbs! WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE VERB IN NEGATIVE FORM?

Development (15)
Purpose:
-To register the new teaching point in their copybooks.
-To practise the new teaching points.
Activity 1
- They will copy the chart and an example of each of them.
-Answer in an oral way these questions according to the chart:
1) How do we form the past simple of regular verbs?

3) Do we use the ending “ed” in negative forms?
Activity 2
- To practise the new teaching point.
-T will say : Now we are going to work with some famous and important facts in the past, but they are wrong!.
Please write the negative form and correct these historical facts:
1) The Russian Revolution started in 1918. (1917)
2) Alexander Fleming discovered the solar radiation. (penicillin)
3) Princess Diana died in England in 1997.(Paris)
4) Vicent Van Gogh painted La Mona Lisa. (Sunflowers)
5) In the nineteenth century, children worked on farms.(mines and factories)
