Morning Prayers July 2

  1. 1. July 2, 2014 Morning Prayers
  2. 2. Introduction In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen. Kyrie eleison. Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord bless us. Amen. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of all ages. Amen. THE LORD'S PRAYER Make us worthy to pray thankfully: Our Father Who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
  3. 3. The Psalm – Psalm 34 Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia 15  The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,     and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16  but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,     to blot out their name from the earth. 17  The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;     he delivers them from all their troubles. 18  The LORD is close to the brokenhearted     and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19  The righteous person may have many troubles,     but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20  he protects all his bones,     not one of them will be broken. 21  Evil will slay the wicked;     the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22  The LORD will rescue his servants;     no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
  4. 4. Short Reading and Meditation If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Thought for Today What a perfect promise. Life is  hard. Wars don’t cease. Threats  don’t diminish. Loss is  pervasive. Uncertainty is clear.  But God hears. God heals. Listen  to the invitation. Seek God. Be  Humble. Turn from wickedness.  Life’s battles don’t subside – but  God delivers the righteous. God  is drawn to the humble and  brokenhearted. 2 Chronicles 7:14
  5. 5. Prayer Pray Silently or Aloud for Others and Yourself Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers. Look upon us, O Lord, and let all the darkness of our souls vanish before the beams of thy brightness. Fill us with holy love, and open to us the treasures of thy wisdom. All our desire is known unto thee, therefore perfect what thou hast begun, and what thy Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer. We seek thy face, turn thy face unto us and show us thy glory. Then shall our longing be satisfied, and our peace shall be perfect. (Augustine, 354 - 430)
