Monday April 9th
• Will talk about what they did on their vacation and will do a report on
how and what was done in their vacation.
• Will have the students choose a topic and presentation on what they
are going to do for Open Doors.
TUESDAY APRIL 10TH

Pre-activity
1. T projects the Learning Outcomes using
APP CS Then, T reads and asks questions
about when they could use them in real life.
Activity
2. In teams, SS discuss when it is useful to:
- greet people and respond to greetings
- check meaning and intention
- identity and describe accommodations
- exchange information
- write and design a travel brochure
- write an article for a travel magazine
T reminds SS that they have to think about
examples they have experienced or they can
imagine.
Post-activities
3. Groups share with the rest of the class
what they came up with, specifying the
objectives they are most and least
comfortable with.
T guides SS to make sure they include the
topic Hitting the Road.
4. T writes some of SS’ ideas using APP CS >
pencil.
Pre-activity
1. T gives different images to each S and elicits the
common topic.
Activities
2. T asks SS, in their groups, to interact using
same-different and Think-Pair-Share.
3. Then, T projects the images on page 237. APP CS
Post-activity
4. Living Mind Map 
* Same-Different
SS try to discover what are the differences and
similarities in two pictures, but neither can look at
the other’s picture.
* Think-Pair-Share:
Step 1: This technique requires SS to think
individually about answering questions.
Step 2: share ideas in pairs.
Step 3: share ideas with their teammates.
Post-activities
1. T gives a piece of butcher paper to each group and explains what a
Living Mind Map is.
2. Each group has to create their own Mind Map about the topic Hitting
the Road. The topic must be in the middle of the paper. SS begin writing
ideas from the previous activity on the map.
3. T reminds SS that, as it is a Living Mind Map, they will be completing it
during the whole unit. So, SS will be building a summary of the unit as
they are learning.
*Living Mind Map: add to the Living Mind Map
* Self-Assessment: SS answer the Self-assessment questions at the bottom
of the page.

Activities & Strategies Pre-activities
1. T plays Track 30 and SS point at the words as they hear them.
2. SS listen to Track 31 and repeat with correct pronunciation and intonation.* T records them with the APP CS > microphone
3. To introduce the topic of the conversation and with the books closed, in groups, SS play Who am I? SS have a name/image pinned to their head and they must guess who they are by questioning other students. Put a class list of questions on the board for easy reference. These
images are related to travel, for example: passports, trains, planes, luggage, hotels, etc.
Activities
4. T asks SS to tell the rest of the class what they know about each one of them, speaking in full sentences.
5. Then T tells SS to go to page 239. T tells SS that they are going to listen to the points.
6. To ensure that all SS understand, T encourages them to share and repeat their expressions in groups.
Post-activities
7. SS complete de Vocabulary Word Map with new words and put on the English corner.
8. SS choose 6 new words and write them on each side of the die (DR grammar dice). Then, SS throw the die and say a sentence with the word that they see.

Pre-activities
1. T reads the text from the box.
2. SS individually, look for linkingand focus adverbs in the sentences from page 238.
3. T projects the page APP CS and with the APP CS> random T chooses one S to underlinethem.
Activity
4. If SS need to work to adverbs as modifiers, go to GrammarAppendix, brieflyexplain the concept of SS, and complete as many corresponding necessary as is necessary.
• Will have students read for 30 minutes.

Activities & Strategies Pre-activities
1. SS, with their eyes closed, listen to Track 33.
2. Individually, students choose the picture that represents the main idea of the conversation.
3. T uses APP CS > Random Selector to choose a S APP CS > to circle the pictures that represent the main idea of the conversation and to justify his/her choice.
4. SS discuss if there is any S who has chosen another picture.
5. In groups, SS complete the Sense Star. T plays the Track 33 again.
Activities
6. SS individually read all questions and answers before listening to Track 33 again.
7. T gives SS a sheet of paper. SS cut it in three pieces and write the letters a, b, and c on them or use Plickers Cards (https://plickers.com/)
8. T plays Track 33 again and waits one minute to review all answers before SS show the corresponding letter for each answer. APP CS
Post-activities
9. T gives five minutes for SS to individually write a personal experience about their vacations abroad and how the experience of leaving the country was for them.
10. SS stand up and play Quiz Quick Check. SS move around the classroom. When they meet a partner high five him/her and exchange their experiences.
11. In groups, SS comment the idioms.

Time: 15 Minutes Grammar Appendix p. 363 – Future
Pre-activity 1. SS discuss about if their experiences are present, past, or future.
Activities 2. SS listen to the conversation again and when they listen to a sentence in the future, they have to raise their hand.
3. T writes the sentences on the board.
4. In groups, SS analyze the sentences and write them on the correct line (page 240).
5. T projects the three sentences that are correct. APP CS
Post-activities 6. In groups, SS choose write their experience in the future tense.
7. If SS need to work to Future Tense, go to Grammar Appendix and explain the concept. Complete as many corresponding activities as necessary.

Activities & Strategies Pre-activity
1. SS listen to Track 30 and repeat with their best pronunciation and intonation.
Activities
2. In groups, SS complete the crossword puzzle using a Pairs Check. This is a way to structure pairs to work on mastery-oriented worksheets. SS work in teams of four with two sets of partners. This way SS stay on task, working
together toward mastery.
3. SS individually write a sentence using the words.
4. T uses APP CS > Random Selector to choose a S APP CS > to write with the pencil some of their sentences.
Post-activities
5. SS individually write the words from the vocabulary list that rhyme.
6. T projects the correct words.
7. SS complete the T-Chart. On the 1st column, they write the words that are at the bottom of page 241 and on the 2nd column, they write the words that T projected.
8. SS pick up their T-chart and make Inside-Outside Circle.
* Pairs Check
Step 1: The first S completes the first word with the pair partner serving as coach.
Step 2: After find the first word, partners change roles.
Step 3: After each pair of words, teams of four check each others' work and, if they agree, give a team cheer or handshake.
* Inside-Outside Circle:
Step 1: SS stand in pairs in two concentric circles. Step 2: The inside circle faces out and has a piece of paper with words from the 1st column; the outside circle faces in and has a piece of paper with the words from the 2nd
column. Step 3: SS rotate to find a new partner. They stop when T says: Stop!
Step 4: Then, SS from the inside circle say a word from their column and their partner from the outside circle responds with a rhyming word from their paper.
Step 5: Finally, T uses the APP CS> Random Selector to choose a S to check the activity using the APP CS> pencil.
*If SS need to reinforce the topic, they can find extra vocabulary activities on page 333.

  • 2. Monday April 9th • Will talk about what they did on their vacation and will do a report on how and what was done in their vacation. • Will have the students choose a topic and presentation on what they are going to do for Open Doors.
  • 3. TUESDAY APRIL 10TH Session 1 Section Learning Outcomes Exploring the Topic Portfolio Pages 235 237 237 M.I. VL, IE, N VS, VL, IE VS, IE Minutes 5 10 25 Objectives To be aware of the learning expectations To analyze pictures about traveling To recall previous knowledge To organize ideas and thoughts Activities & Strategies Pre-activity 1. T projects the Learning Outcomes using APP CS Then, T reads and asks questions about when they could use them in real life. Activity 2. In teams, SS discuss when it is useful to: - greet people and respond to greetings - check meaning and intention - identity and describe accommodations - exchange information - write and design a travel brochure - write an article for a travel magazine T reminds SS that they have to think about examples they have experienced or they can imagine. Post-activities 3. Groups share with the rest of the class what they came up with, specifying the objectives they are most and least comfortable with. T guides SS to make sure they include the topic Hitting the Road. 4. T writes some of SS’ ideas using APP CS > pencil. Pre-activity 1. T gives different images to each S and elicits the common topic. Activities 2. T asks SS, in their groups, to interact using same-different and Think-Pair-Share. 3. Then, T projects the images on page 237. APP CS Post-activity 4. Living Mind Map  * Same-Different SS try to discover what are the differences and similarities in two pictures, but neither can look at the other’s picture. * Think-Pair-Share: Step 1: This technique requires SS to think individually about answering questions. Step 2: share ideas in pairs. Step 3: share ideas with their teammates. Post-activities 1. T gives a piece of butcher paper to each group and explains what a Living Mind Map is. 2. Each group has to create their own Mind Map about the topic Hitting the Road. The topic must be in the middle of the paper. SS begin writing ideas from the previous activity on the map. 3. T reminds SS that, as it is a Living Mind Map, they will be completing it during the whole unit. So, SS will be building a summary of the unit as they are learning. *Living Mind Map: add to the Living Mind Map * Self-Assessment: SS answer the Self-assessment questions at the bottom of the page.   • 4. WEDNESDAY APRIL 11TH Session 2 Section Vocabulary Builder Pages 238, 239, 361 M.I. M, VS, IA Minutes 30 Objectives To increase vocabulary awareness To improve spelling and pronunciationof the vocabularywords To improve grammar comprehension skills Activities & Strategies Pre-activities 1. T plays Track 30 and SS point at the words as they hear them. 2. SS listen to Track 31 and repeat with correct pronunciation and intonation.* T records them with the APP CS > microphone 3. To introduce the topic of the conversation and with the books closed, in groups, SS play Who am I? SS have a name/image pinned to their head and they must guess who they are by questioning other students. Put a class list of questions on the board for easy reference. These images are related to travel, for example: passports, trains, planes, luggage, hotels, etc. Activities 4. T asks SS to tell the rest of the class what they know about each one of them, speaking in full sentences. 5. Then T tells SS to go to page 239. T tells SS that they are going to listen to the points. 6. To ensure that all SS understand, T encourages them to share and repeat their expressions in groups. Post-activities 7. SS complete de Vocabulary Word Map with new words and put on the English corner. 8. SS choose 6 new words and write them on each side of the die (DR grammar dice). Then, SS throw the die and say a sentence with the word that they see. T reads the text from the box. 2. SS individually, look for linkingand focus adverbs in the sentences from page 238. 3. T projects the page APP CS and with the APP CS> random T chooses one S to underlinethem. Activity 4. If SS need to work to adverbs as modifiers, go to GrammarAppendix, brieflyexplain the concept of SS, and complete as many corresponding necessary as is necessary.
  • 5. • Will have students read for 30 minutes. THURSDAY APRIL 12 Session 3 Section Listening Pages 240, 363 M.I. M, VS, VL, IE, K Minutes 25 Objectives To improve auditory discrimination and pronunciation To exchange information To identity accommodations To improve grammar comprehension skills Activities & Strategies Pre-activities 1. SS, with their eyes closed, listen to Track 33. 2. Individually, students choose the picture that represents the main idea of the conversation. 3. T uses APP CS > Random Selector to choose a S APP CS > to circle the pictures that represent the main idea of the conversation and to justify his/her choice. 4. SS discuss if there is any S who has chosen another picture. 5. In groups, SS complete the Sense Star. T plays the Track 33 again. Activities 6. SS individually read all questions and answers before listening to Track 33 again. 7. T gives SS a sheet of paper. SS cut it in three pieces and write the letters a, b, and c on them or use Plickers Cards (https://plickers.com/) 8. T plays Track 33 again and waits one minute to review all answers before SS show the corresponding letter for each answer. APP CS Post-activities 9. T gives five minutes for SS to individually write a personal experience about their vacations abroad and how the experience of leaving the country was for them. 10. SS stand up and play Quiz Quick Check. SS move around the classroom. When they meet a partner high five him/her and exchange their experiences. 11. In groups, SS comment the idioms. SS discuss about if their experiences are present, past, or future. Activities 2. SS listen to the conversation again and when they listen to a sentence in the future, they have to raise their hand. 3. T writes the sentences on the board. 4. In groups, SS analyze the sentences and write them on the correct line (page 240). 5. T projects the three sentences that are correct. APP CS Post-activities 6. In groups, SS choose write their experience in the future tense. 7. If SS need to work to Future Tense, go to Grammar Appendix and explain the concept. Complete as many corresponding activities as necessary.
  • 6. FRIDAY APRIL 13TH Session 4 Section Vocabulary Builder Pages 241 M.I. M, LM, IE, K, VL Minutes 40 Objectives To improve auditory discrimination To practice spelling of the Unit’s vocabulary words Activities & Strategies Pre-activity 1. SS listen to Track 30 and repeat with their best pronunciation and intonation. Activities 2. In groups, SS complete the crossword puzzle using a Pairs Check. This is a way to structure pairs to work on mastery-oriented worksheets. SS work in teams of four with two sets of partners. This way SS stay on task, working together toward mastery. 3. SS individually write a sentence using the words. 4. T uses APP CS > Random Selector to choose a S APP CS > to write with the pencil some of their sentences. Post-activities 5. SS individually write the words from the vocabulary list that rhyme. 6. T projects the correct words. 7. SS complete the T-Chart. On the 1st column, they write the words that are at the bottom of page 241 and on the 2nd column, they write the words that T projected. 8. SS pick up their T-chart and make Inside-Outside Circle. * Pairs Check Step 1: The first S completes the first word with the pair partner serving as coach. Step 2: After find the first word, partners change roles. Step 3: After each pair of words, teams of four check each others' work and, if they agree, give a team cheer or handshake. * Inside-Outside Circle: Step 1: SS stand in pairs in two concentric circles. Step 2: The inside circle faces out and has a piece of paper with words from the 1st column; the outside circle faces in and has a piece of paper with the words from the 2nd column. Step 3: SS rotate to find a new partner. They stop when T says: Stop! Step 4: Then, SS from the inside circle say a word from their column and their partner from the outside circle responds with a rhyming word from their paper. Step 5: Finally, T uses the APP CS> Random Selector to choose a S to check the activity using the APP CS> pencil. *If SS need to reinforce the topic, they can find extra vocabulary activities on page 333.
